"Travis, who was amazing, came out to test my residence. He was early, down to earth, and professional. He reassured me that I was not crazy, that he could tell after 10 minutes of being in my apartment that I had a mold issue. Travis continued his testing, which was very detailed, efficient, yet a quick process. My tests were sent in for lab testing and it came back as positive for mold throughout my apartment. Travis and the team at Critical Environment helped me prove that my residence was the cause of my illness and was the proof I needed to get my lease terminated. This was an absolute answer to my prayers. In my opinion, there is no better company to test your home than Critical Environment. A month after Travis tested my place a client of mine was complaining about health issues, I told them about my experience with critical environment. They called and Travis came out the NEXT DAY and tested. You will not find a more professional and proficient company than CE."

"Our radon system indicator showed that it wasn't working so I called Protech who had installed it about 6-7 years ago.  Of course our 5 year warranty was up so we had to pay for the new fan/pump, but they gave me a 2 hour window (as opposed to 4 hours some other places) and they came early.  Friendly and professional, one guy got right to work doing the replacing outside while Doyle came in, did the paperwork, explained the new warranty and the need for a larger pump.  He inspected the inside pipe and indicator and I started asking questions about moisture and mold which he answered and looked at another area of the cellar for me.  He seemed very knowledgeable and answered my many questions and recommended a company that could do what I needed done.  I have been very happy with this company. <br />"

"Bruce'who owns the company, came out to the house and gave us an estimate for our mold problem. The estimate was more that fair. We told him to proceed with the job. We agreed upon a time that he would begin the job. Bruce and his crew were here on time and completed the job as outlined in his estimate. Bruce was wonderful to work with. He answered any and all questions we posed to him. He did such a good job with the mold problem, we had his company clean our heating and air ducts two days later. This fall we will hire Bruce and company to clean our carpets. Nice people, excellent job and great price=winner."

"Aaron and Tyrone were awesome! We had the misfortune of learning that some of our cold air return ductwork was lined with asbestos, so we had Aaron came out to inspect our basement and give us a quote. He really emphasized making sure that the job was done right and he took plenty of time to explain the process of how the containment areas would be set up, how the asbestos would be removed and disposed of, and how he would clean up. We really liked his enthusiasm, so we hired him to do the job. He and his assistant Tyrone showed up early on Saturday morning and Aaron walked us through the basement again, showing us exactly how he was going to set everything up (including doing some drywall demo work that covered up part of the asbestos). About 3 hours later they were all done without any issues whatsoever. Aaron walked us through the basement again showing us where they'd taken all the asbestos out and everything looked great. Highly recommend using AMC Environmental if you need to have asbestos removed! <br />"

"The staff was very nice, flexible and friendly.  They scheduled us promptly and were able to change easily when our power went out.  The concern was that a bothersome  stain remains (they weren't sure they could remove it and didn't).  There is also now a stain or moderate discolored area at our entry like the stained water had seeped and spread.  They worked very fast which is positive and negative.  Another provider many years ago took longer but was able to remove all stains.  We just got tired of them calling every continuously to schedule more work.  Perhaps the one stain is permanent and no one could have removed it.  The new area is bothersome.  I didn't re-contact but am going to try someone else and see what happens.  The people at Camelot are very nice...maybe just not as professional and focused on getting the very best results that they can get.  Not sure.  Will see if the next company performs like our old provider."

"My parents retired late last year and I have been overseeing their property.  I found that the basement carpet was wet and mold began to form.   I was not sure how long the carpet has been wet and wanted to better understand if there were any dangers to the air quality and how to handle a situation like this where mold has begun to form.    I contacted Anew one evening and Erin from Anew promptly contacted me to learn more about my situation.   He as very professional and very understanding as I had  many questions regarding mold as this was my first issue with mold.   Erin was more than happy to answer all of my questions and gave me multiple options that I could take.   I decided to move forward and have air samples taken to understand the type of mold that was in the basement and how bad the air quality was.  The cost of the service was $185, which was well worth the cost.   Not only to have the air sampled but also the education Erin gave me on mold and how to properly handle mold if I were to clear the mold in the basement myself.   The test results from the air samples were returned very quickly just a day after the samples were taken.   Erin emailed the full results in detail and reviewed the results with me via phone to ensure I understood the results.   He also informed me to give him a call with any future questions relative to properly handling and disposing of mold as I work on my parents basement.  Truly a great experience!  <br />"

FAQs for mold & toxic material test projects in Grand Ledge, MI

Some companies offer a no‑cost phone or video consultation that screens for red flags. If the discussion points to a real issue, the pro will recommend a paid on‑site inspection. The complimentary call clarifies whether you need full testing, but it isn’t a substitute for samples, lab work, or a written report. Always confirm what the free service covers before you schedule.

A standard inspection, which includes basic air and surface samples, takes an average of two hours. If the pro needs to probe hidden spaces, such as wall cavities or ductwork, plan on up to six hours. Extra time allows the inspector to reach tight areas, collect additional samples, and document findings. Lab analysis is a separate process and often adds several business days to the overall timeframe before you receive the full report.

Mold thrives where moisture lingers and air flow is poor. Common hotspots include bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes, window sills, HVAC vents, fireplaces, crawl spaces, and enclosed attics. Check these areas regularly—especially after leaks or high‑humidity weather—to catch growth early and avoid costly repairs.

Unchecked mold can knock 20% to 37% off a home’s market value because buyers worry about hidden damage and health risks. Even after remediation, visible staining or a history of major moisture issues can still lower offers and prolong the time on the market. Addressing mold quickly protects both your property’s structural integrity and its resale appeal.
