"I asked Community Electric to check out our electric service panel and advise us about upgrading it. Harut looked at the system and explained what was involved in simply replacing the panel with a new 100amp panel and upgrading it to handle more circuits. He pointed out several factors we never considered. He also gave me ballpark estimates for each option that seemed very reasonable. I appreciated his honesty and clarity. While we ultimately decided not to do anything at the moment, I would not hesitate calling him to do any electrical work I may need in the future. Knowing a good electrician is invaluable when you need one and I met one today."

"Frank responded quickly to my inquiry, and was able to schedule me in the very next day. He showed up on time and did a thorough investigation of my electric panel and house layout before coming up a clever plan with minimal cut in my dry wall. He explained what needed to be done and patiently answered all my questions . He completed the work within three hours, and was kind enough to wait for me testing my treadmill using the new outlet. He is very professional and honest about his work, and I would use him again for future needs."

"Our house is over 30 years old and the electrical panel was in questionable state after various contractors over the years had accessed it for their projects. For safety and security reasons, we had Rooster Electric upgrade the electrical panel. The electrician needed to cut the house siding to install the new panel and did so expertly, providing new trim and caulking. The job looks great and we feel safer now that the panel is up to specs. Thank you, Rooster Electric, for walking us through the project and doing excellent work. Weâ re so tired of contractors taking the quick and easy route to get their job done rather than providing good, respectable customer service. Youâ ll get our recommendation whenever someone asks if we know a good and trustworthy electrical company. L&N in Fair Oaks"

"Our experience was FANTASTIC! Chris was not only friendly but extremely personable and knowledgeable! I had so many questions & he answered all of them plus some. He originally came over just for a quote but ended up being able to fix everything we needed on the spot! Then, when he was done checking out everything I originally called him about, I was able to go over other concerns & even future projects with him. It was such a great experience & I will definitely be calling him for all future electrical needs."

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Granite Bay, CA

While homeowners with substantial electrical knowledge might technically attempt a subpanel installation, most local building departments require permits and inspections for this type of work. Professional electricians understand local code requirements, can obtain necessary permits, and ensure the installation meets safety standards. Given the significant safety risks associated with incorrect electrical work, most homeowners benefit from hiring a licensed professional.

A standard subpanel installation takes an average of four to eight hours. This timeframe may extend if you're installing multiple subpanels or adding specialized circuits like those for spa equipment. Factors such as difficult access points, complex wiring paths, or permit processing times can also affect the overall project duration.

Adding a subpanel doesn't directly reduce electricity consumption or lower your utility bills. A subpanel simply redistributes power from your main panel to additional circuits. However, organizing your electrical system more efficiently may help prevent overloaded circuits and the associated problems. For actual cost savings, consider energy-efficient appliances and lighting instead.

The appropriate subpanel size depends on your specific electrical requirements. Consider the number and type of devices you'll be powering, potential future needs, and the capacity of your main electrical panel. An electrician can perform a load calculation to determine the most suitable amperage rating for your situation, ensuring you have adequate power without overpaying for unnecessary capacity.

A main electrical panel connects directly to your utility's power supply and contains your home's primary service disconnect. It distributes electricity throughout your entire house. A subpanel, by contrast, receives power from the main panel and redistributes it to a specific area of your home. Think of the main panel as the primary distribution point and the subpanel as a secondary branch that extends your electrical system's reach.

While electrical upgrades aren't as immediately visible as kitchen or bathroom renovations, they can contribute to your home's functionality and safety. Prospective buyers often appreciate updated electrical systems that can accommodate modern power demands. A properly installed subpanel that provides additional capacity for workshops, home offices, or future expansions could be an attractive feature for certain buyers, though the direct impact on home value varies by market.
