"This company was very responsive and professional. I called needing an emergency installation of an electrical line and box for a gas cooktop so that the cooktop could be connected. This was on a Tuesday evening and the line and box were installed the next morning. Matt Wehrie called to confirm the time of arrival that morning which was met. The charges for this service were quite reasonable. The installers were pleasant and professional. I would use this company any time that I have need of an electrician. <br />"

"This project went off without a hitch. I called Accurate Plumbing on a Monday, bought the tank ourselves on a Tuesday, and they were out Thursday to install. From start to finish, the job took about 90 minutes and the area was cleaned up nicely before they left. Great experience. Would highly recommend. Thanks to Greg, filling in for Service Manager, Mike, for his quick replies and fair quote. Thanks to Justin, the lead installer, and his apprentice, Logan, for their professionalism and quality install. You were all such a pleasure with which to work. Thanks for making this experience an easy, hassle-free install."

"This is the third time we've had Adam from Old Hilliard Plumbing out to do a repair. Although the company's service call fee is a little on the high side, I have always appreciated that Adam has repaired things rather than automatically recommending total replacement, saving time and money. He is courteous and takes the time to talk through the problem and solution with me. So many service people these days try to jack up the costs for services and parts but this has not been my experience with Old Hilliard Plumbing. Would highly recommend them."

"Comfortworks was responsive both times we had to call, and had the part needed --twice, as the first was faulty-- faster than they or we expected. They came the same day it arrived at their office. Because all of this happened during our seclusion for Covid 19, it was equally important to me that they were prepared to do all the repairs without contact with us, and taking a lot of care in our home. Our relationship with Comfortworks began during our renovation, and we have been very happy with them for three years beyond the completion of our remodeling."

"Aaron from G&M was very courteous and worked quickly to get the job completed in a timely manner in order to reduce our cost (they charge per hour). He clearly explained the work that was being completed and offered his phone number in the event we (or the buyers) had follow up questions. We will definitely be using G&M in our new home should any plumbing issues arise. Thank you!"

"Although this was a plumbing/minor remolding project by choice, it still can be a tense experience. Everyone we spoke with at Cruikshank made this a wonderful experience. Excellent customer service from my initial call, through the process to get a quote, all the way through completion of the job. Devon came to our home to review the job and provided the estimate a few days later. While at the house, he gave us great suggestions for items such as about our shower flange that butted right up to the edge of the tile (since our new one was going to be much larger we needed options other than cutting the tile) and he got us up to speed on the latest toilets (which might be a future project). After we signed the contract (which provided great detail on the work, how any refund would be calculated if they didn't use the full time quoted, etc.), Cruikshank ordered the fixtures we selected for us as part of the job. I am so glad we did this; it was one less thing for us to deal with and they coordinated the full job and ensured all parts were in before scheduling. Throughout the process, Cruikshank stayed in contact with me updates on the order. Once the parts were in, I scheduled a week or so later than possible because of my job and there was no pressure from Cruikshank to go with the "earliest" date possible. Randy was the main person that worked the install. I can not say enough about his professionalism and respect for my home. Randy was on time each day, was neat and clean during his work, and was a pleasure to chat with periodically throughout the 3 days. He even tolerated a miniature poodle checking in on his work periodically. My tub access panel seemed to be permanently affixed and Randy took his time to take it off so it could be reused instead of just cutting it off. This is just one example of the care he took. Michael also came on one day to help ensure the job finished on time and installed most of the towel bars - exactly where I requested them to be. He was swift and efficient in his work. I received two or three quotes. Cruikshank was not the cheapest, but I just had a feeling they would do great work and they did. We also had a minor adjustment needed and Cruikshank warranties their work for a year. When I called they were just as responsive before I paid them and they promptly addressed the matter. This is where it paid off to have Cruikshank order the fixtures because they dealt directly with the manufacture and got the replacement part in and came back to install it - just as timely and professional as they did on the original install. Another example of excellent customer service. My husband and I are very pleased with the transformation of our four bathrooms (2 full, 2 half) and glad we made the choice to go with Cruikshank! We think they will now be our plumbers of choice for any future needs. Note: Cost of service amount provided does not include cost of fixtures."

"Five years after moving into our house we were finally ready to update our house's full bathroom. The bathroom design and fixtures were (from what we believe to be) last updated from the early 90s. A pedestal sink and clawfoot tub (converted to a shower) were a couple of the features that just did not fit our needs. The bathroom's footprint is quite small (just 6ft x 7.75ft) and afforded no built-in storage. So for a remodel we knew what was on our need-to-have list. Our goal was to convert the tub to a real shower and replace the pedestal sink with a cabinet that would give us more storage and maximize the available space. We had received quotes from remodelers that led us to believe that we would have to go down the route of having to do a custom build/remodel. The fixtures and custom finishes of these proposals were very nice but the price (in our mind) for such a small space were out of our budget. We were also told a remodel could take a month to complete. Being without our only full bathroom for that long just didn't seem realistic. So after searching online for other options we came across Simple Bath. Shawn Barral, our design consultant, showed that we could achieve our goal without going down the expensive & lengthy custom build/remodel route. The design, fixtures, & components they proposed allowed for cost and installation-time savings. These advantages ultimately fit our goal. Going through the process from preliminary design, fixture & finish selection, measurement, demolition, and installation all went very smooth. Our installers, Justin & Hunter, were tasked with (in my opinion) unenviable job of demolition which included removal of a very heavy cast-iron tub and very dusty & dirty work associated with plaster & lathe walls. They also persevered through the challenges of working with an old home which included unleveled floors and out of plumb walls in addition to a very tight workspace. At the end of each work day the worksite was clean and tidy, which was something that is often overlooked during a remodel. By the end of the work week, the installation finished right on time with incredible results. It was an incredible transformation that happened so quickly and so smoothly. Our new bathroom is so much more presentable and vastly more usable."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Granville, OH

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
