"The team helped us through one of the worst situations. Our home was severely damaged and flooded by Superstorm Sandy. We needed someone to help secure the existing structure, help oversee the insurance process and do the rebuild and remodel. We were very appreciative of the diligent work of this firm. They helped create a better design to prevent future flood risks, remodeled the house in full, and did it within our budget with insurance. In the beginning there were many nights where the team pulled all nighters."

"I wish I could give zero stars. We hired Douglas for a kitchen remodel which involved installing a kitchen island, pantry, and all the related plumbing and electrical work. The communication between Douglas and his carpenter was terrible. We submitted sketches and agreed upon the design for the cabinets which were meant to be overlaid. When the island arrived, the cabinets were inset which did not match the rest of the kitchen. In addition, the kitchen island has split and cracked at more than half of the joints. The pantry cabinet has split and areas of unpainted MDF are showing. We have needed to paint and touch up many of these spots. Regarding the plumbing, we have had multiple significant leaks from piping and tubing that the team installed. Water has leaked even through the floor and into the basement. Upon review from other plumbers, all have confirmed the parts used were cheap and of low quality, and the workmanship was subpar. After a major leak in the middle of the night, we reached out to Douglas and respectfully voiced our issues and complaints. He ignored us for a full month, and then instead of simply stopping by to take a look at the problems (which would have been the first major step to alleviating our frustrations), he responded in a despicable manner. He even included the following quote from his lawyer, He laughed saying that perhaps you lost your job (due to the CoronaVirus) and were probably scrounging for any money you could scrape up. Who would want to work with someone like this?"

"We were very pleased with the job performed. Helio's team expanded and renovated our small master bathroom. We took out a large closet and converted it into our shower. Once started, they worked quickly and efficiently. We did have a few small hiccups, namely using our garage to cut tiles and mix thinset, which created an exorbitant amount of dust coating my tools, bikes, and anything else that was stored in the garage. We also had an issue with the cleanliness of the home after some of the workers left, however, after we brought it to Helio's attention, he made sure to tell the team to do a better job moving forward. Contract was a little confusing, so I would encourage many questions to clarify things ahead of time such as timeline for selecting certain items, confirming when the next payments are due etc. All in all, we're pleased with the project and how it turned out."

"We hired Ion and AI Art and design after lengthy process with many others. He showed a high understanding of design and a sensitive. He designed and took us through the whole process with other professionals in the design and construction phases. It was a pleasure seeing everything coming together. The house looks spectacular. We highly recommend working with AI and Ion on your project. "

FAQs for addition to existing structure building service projects in Greenwich, CT

You can typically raise your roof by four to eight feet, depending on your home's structure and roof design. The exact amount depends on factors like roof slope and framing support. Raising the roof creates additional interior space, enhances natural light, and increases your home's value. Consult a professional to determine the feasible height increase for your home.

Yes, you need a building permit to raise your roof. Obtaining a building permit ensures your project complies with local building codes and safety regulations. A professional contractor can assist with the permit and inspection process and ensure all legal and safety requirements are met. Your contractor will be familiar with building codes in your area, which can differ between cities or states.

While it's possible to raise a flat roof, it requires extensive structural modifications. Flat roofs lack the attic space and support structures of pitched roofs, so raising them involves significant engineering to ensure safety and durability. This process can be complex and costly, so professional assessment is essential before undertaking a project of this magnitude.
