"Ray replaced some bad siding in various places, installed a new door/trim, added a gutter and ended up replacing windows for us. Sometimes weather and available workers were challenging, but he always kept me informed and was very pleasant to work with. Satisfied with the work and so far no issues-"

"Saying that I recommend Mario and his crew is an understatement. I'm going to leave a full review - if you're going to spend 50k+ like we did you need this kind of review; you'll want that certainty that you're picking the right guy. And trust me, you want Mario. My wife and I moved into a beautiful house from the 70's. Shortly after we moved in, we experienced a flood, and after finding the cause to be faulty/worn plumbing were forced to take out a massive loan for home repairs. We were hesitant and devastated. I talked to countless contractors about a major undertaking - the master bathroom. Nothing was in the right place - it needed a complete gut, everything needed rerouting/redone. When I met Mario I knew instantly he was different. He fell in love with our house and its unique architecture and sympathized with what we were going through. When you meet Mario you realize quickly he cares about you - he's not after your money, he's there to make you happy and he does what he does because he's deeply passionate. We hired Mario and his crew and they pulled off a miracle. To describe their achievements - took it down to the studs, new modern plumbing/electrical/HVAC, replaced subfloor, moved a door, created an 8 ft by 4 ft shower with mosaic tile benches and custom arch built ins, installed a double vanity, free standing tub, moved the toilet, added fans, patched ceilings and drywall and trim, and Mario himself built custom frosted arch-shaped windows (in exactly the style my wife wanted)! Mario was active in the effort and even participated in the labor. He adapted to change, and really listened to what we wanted. At the beginning he drafted a perfectly fair contract. He sent me regular invoices with incredibly detailed cost breakdowns (through which I could see exactly where the money was going, what was used for materials vs labor, and I can attest not the least bit greedy). He was completely transparent the whole way through, and kept me updated on budget and expenses. I also want to make note of his crew, because Brian and Hunter were just as amazing. They have as much passion as Mario, have impeccable electrical/plumbing/HVAC skills, and diligently handcrafted many custom aspects of the product. And they communicated frequently to ensure the end product was exactly what we wanted. If something wasn't perfect they took it upon themselves to redo it until it was (they did this with the shower tile, until it was perfect). No one could have done it better. No matter what your project is - this is the team you want. And to Mario/crew if you're reading this, thank you :)"

HomeAdvisor makes it easy to connect with pros near you. You can read reviews, get quotes and book appointments all in one place.
Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
