"First, the shopping experience was great.  Steve did a fine job of providing information & prices.  I gave an A for the price, but I haven't done any comparison shopping.  I chose a higher end Karastan carpet.  My carpet came in within a week.  <br /> The installer, Bret, and his helper were top notch.  They arrived on time and were very professional.  The install took only 4 hours, including furniture removal and replacement.  They even helped me put the bedskirts back on! <br /> The install itself is perfect.  I have several closet organizers that were installed over the old carpet.  I thought it was going to be a problem, but it wasn't for these guys.  Good experience. <br />"

"I had driven by this location on Eglin Parkway many times.  I was trying to get carpet for my home that I was turining into a rental through Lowe's.  Lowe's dropped the ball 3 times in the process of me buying carpet from them, first they hired an installer that never came by to measure, secondly they hired a new installer that was late, third they called me about the measurements and then asked me for which carpet I had decided on after i told them in the intial set up, and finally on my way to Lowe's to straighten all this out it took them an hour to find my measurements and give me a quote on carpet. <br /> I stopped in to carpet city that day and met with a technician who said he could be out to measure the following day.  He was on time and thorough.  He called me back a day later with a FREE estimate (not the $35 Lowes charges you) for a better carpet and pad beating Lowe's in price and NO hidden fees.  We setup a date for install and all was good.  <br /> I called the Monday before the install to check that everything was good.  Got a everything is good for your Wednesday install at 9am.  Wednesday rolls around and this is where it all goes wrong.  Like a earlier post on Angie's List THEY FORGOT TO ORDER MY CARPET!  I get a call Wednesday morning at 9 am saying the carpet was not there and the technician had forgotten to order it.  I was moving out that Friday and renters coming through that weekend.  I again found myself driving to a Carpet store trying to untangle this huge debacle.  Luckily when i showed up the Technician had a similar cheaper carpet in stock.  I decided since they had two colors of the same carpet in stock to do a separate bedroom in the darker color.  They called back the installer and two guys showed up around 11 to install the carpet.  The installers were good at their job.  They installed the carpet really well with no visible seams.  They did not do any clean up other than their own equipments and carpet fibers were everywhere.  <br /> Carpet City then billed me for the Carpet and the extra piece that I decided on in the store.  Even though the actual price of the new carpet they installed was about 15-20% cheaper my bill was not when it arrived.  I guess the additional carpet color I chose added sq footage to what was in the original estimate.  I called and talked with them and they knocked the bill down coming out to about 14% cheaper. <br /> Compared to Lowe's it all worked out but next time I will go to the store the day before and confirm my carpet has arrived and then get my new pricing in writing before I walk out the door on any changes.  My whole home renovation has had problems at every turn and this was just another one.  <br />"

"As anyone with a motorhome knows, the carpets fade and discolor very badly. We were provided with an estimate over the phone from Color Your Carpet. The final price was within the range quoted. They arrived promptly at the specified appointment time. After a brief discussion about what color I wanted, they mixed up a color that was exactly what I was looking for! They were done quickly and we are VERY happy with the results! My 10 year old RV carpet looks almost like new, for a fraction of what replacing it would have cost. I highly recommend Rich and Color Your Carpet! <br /> <br />"

"In October of this year we ordered almost 1900 square feet of carpeting from Lowes. They contracted the installation out to Allwayz Flooring who had Robert, Richard, and Joe install the carpet. The installation went wonderfully and while the carpet had a pattern the installers did such a good job that you could not find the seems anywhere. Unfortunately, we had a problem with the carpet. Lowes worked diligently with us to resolve the problem. We could not have been happier with either Lowes or the men from Allwayz Flooring."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Gulf Breeze, FL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
