"Short Review: Juan completed a small job for me: removal of a 140sqf plaster ceiling, installation of a new drywall ceiling, installation of recessed lighting, finish work and painting. Overall, Juan is a really good, honest guy and he did great work with the drywall and electrical. Improvements in communication and cleaning of the worksite would make him a 5/5. I would hire again if he treated the space a bit more delicately to prevent damage and cleaned up significantly better at the end. Full Review: Pros: Juan has attention to detail to his work; the end result was very professional. He underestimated how much time the project would take by a couple days, however he worked over the weekend during his family time to make sure the project was done on my timeline. Juan arrived pretty early on most days (e.g. 7:00a.m.) and put in full days to get the project done. Cons: I was out of town for 3/6 days of the project. There were a couple issues with the installation that I would have appreciated a phone call to discuss before moving forward. Although he did arrive early, he was sometimes off +/- a couple hours for his arrival. This is only an issue if you are planning to meet him, which wasnâ t absolutely necessary on my part. Cleaning was a bit of an issue. Juan did wipe things down as he went, but the level of cleanliness at the end was not great in my opinion. He put plastic over the door leading to other rooms, however a significant amount of dust made it throughout the other rooms. I had to clean this a couple times. In the outdoor space it appears he poured a couple buckets of spackle and water in the yard, areas that had just been seeded with grass and I had asked him to be careful of. To be fair, my yard is small, but still the mess could have been avoided. The site was roughly wiped down and the floor was mopped, however I still had significant piles of dust on most horizontal surfaces, walls were scuffed up and had multiple new hand prints, and the wood floor had multiple scratches and depressions from moving the fridge around. The fridge is heavy, but I have moved it in and out of that room a couple times with no damage to the floor so I know it can be done. A little more grace would have been appreciated so I didnâ t have to repair a damaged floor. He purchased some stain markers for me to help repair, but this wonâ t remove the long dented scratches. Overall, I had to spend 3 hours cleaning up excess dust, wiping down walls, and repainting (rolling out) the walls to cover up new marks (and old marks) on the walls. I think most of this could have been avoided."

Willie walked/talked us through the entire process which was very helpful for us since this was our 1st home renovation using a contractor. They took the time to cover the work area, keeping the demolition dust to a minimum. Willie was able to adjust his plans, on the spot, when we changed our minds about how we wanted to handle one of the walls/doorway. Our project was completed on time and within our budget. From there, they sent out a crew that worked nearly around the clock to ensure all was taken care of without delay. Within a few weeks, they came out to reinspect and ensure everything is holding up and working the way it is suppose to. Whenever I call, day/night Ms. Sarah Edwards answers without hesitation with an uplifting and positive attitude that no matter the situation, she will prioritize it urgent to take care of. They have sent out a team on their dime, to help seal parts of the roof and chimney that were not necessarily under their original contract to handle and even fixed things from the inside to give my family the most assuring home preventive measures were taken and would last for as long as we own the home. A couple of days ago, after a few weeks of strong gusts of wind, the owner himself, Matt, came out to fully inspect, find the plausible cause, and stayed to fix the damage caused by mother nature's force impaling a branch thru a softer part of the roof. Neither Matt nor Ms. Edwards hesitated for one second in the fact that the rest of their teams were tied up, and came out immediately per what my employment schedule allowed for. As stated previously, I highly recommend not to overlook this company when it comes to work that they verbally state they will handle, and on time; they back up the talk with the most professional personnel and satisfying results. None of them have ever mentioned nor even tried to add any additional hidden, mysterious, or additional charges, and were more than willing to see things are done right the first time."

"Jose Rodriguez was a basic carpenter. He used up 1/2 hour purchasing materials and I had to go with him to pay for them rather than reimburse him for the items. He had to pay him for the rest of the work which ended up costing over $300 for basic work that any handyman could have done. He left the wooden beam support with bracing and could not return until two days later and I was concerned that my large dog might get injured if she moved this. He left a heavy 2 foot 4x4 in my basement near the air conditioner; he also left the rotted roof support beam on my property which I had to dispose of. I kept the unused and cut wood that was purchased as I could cut it and re-use it elsewhere. I recently hired a real carpenter for replacement of my shed doors and he was a true skilled professional who came to my house and measured the wood needed and hardware and purchased the materials and had an assistant to help him do the work which was an excellent job. Quite a difference. Had I known I would have hired him to do the other work done previously and the cost for his work was at a much better price than the Angie's List "pro". No more Angie's List pros for me. Wherever do you find them and how do they get an A rating?"
