"Jeff Feldhaus and his crew did excellent work consistently across all of the renovated bathrooms and the kitchen, with beautiful results, bringing many years of refined experience with this type of work to the projects at hand. A number of people with whom I have shared the completed work - both friends and people involved in home-related businesses professionally have said, "Wow!" The resulting rooms really look gorgeous, and all of the work was done in a meticulous, careful fashion from the proper preparation for the tile floors to discussion of where to locate fixtures, mirrors and accessories. The rooms were fully torn out, then carefully rebuilt and repaired, including plaster/drywall, painting and carpentry. Jeff was very patient with the contracting process and all of the preparations; we made a number of revisions to the original contract at my request and moved forward with the work from there. Jeff also referred me early in the process to Mark Prince, a designer at W. Stephens Cabinetry with whom Jeff has worked for many years; Mark's professional skills with designing and measuring for the cabinetry and layout for the kitchen and bathrooms set the stage for great results as well; quartz countertops for the kitchens and bathrooms were ordered through Stephens as were the wood cabinets for the kitchen. Everything ordered appears to be of excellent, durable quality and also looks as attractive as expected. Stephens offers a wide range of styles and choices from a number of vendors in both cabinetry and countertops. The relationship there worked out really well in terms of coordinating everything both logistically and from the standpoint of style, achieving beautiful results. Jeff and Mark both worked closely with me over a number of planning sessions to ensure that the results would be what I was looking for, and to ensure that they had accurate plans and measurements for the eventual installation. Jeff's skill with woodworking resulted in lovely finishing touches on the kitchen cabinetry - carefully installed trim and moulding. Both Jeff's company generally, and W. Stephens specifically, offer choices that strike a good balance between quality, expense/cost, and taste. Jeff also communicates through the entire project regarding various details, and doesn't just do 'whatever' when little choices come up along the way, but rather takes time to do the work properly, not just to move it along; he takes the time to ask you questions, and you benefit as a customer by asking him when you have questions about anything, or feel like something needs a touch up or adjustment. He is very creative at finding solutions to little problems that arise; the fans he likes to install in the bathrooms - a Panasonic quiet fan- did not fit into the given structure in one of my bathrooms. After considering a number of possibilities, Jeff ended up constructing a soffit - with my permission - that accommodated his preferred model of fan. When it was time to build the niches in the showers, he emailed me asking whether I wanted them installed horizontally or vertically, and showed me what the results of each choice would look like in the context of my shower and shower/bath. I had selected a pre-made shelf for one of the showers, and we both agreed that the style and color didn't mesh well with the rest of my tile/bath choices; his creative solution, which looks very attractive, was to take a sample of my quartz countertop and to have shelving made that matched my countertop selections. On another occasion, he had selected a grout for the bathrooms that he thought would match well with the tiles, but when we looked more closely, it didn't seem to be the best choice. I had a color stick/palette from a tile company, and we went back to the drawing board, finding something that meshed perfectly with both the bathroom floor and the shower bath tiles. For some of the electrical work and plumbing work required by these projects, Jeff and I agreed that I would involve the licensed electrician and plumber I work with ongoing, and that cooperation worked out well; he is very flexible with these kinds of requests, but I think appreciates if they are planned in advance. With Jeff's process, the customer supplies some of the materials, but he provides you with a shopping list of the amounts required for your projects; for me this worked out well because it avoids having the contractor select tile or lighting that might have been unappealing to my taste. He recommends possible vendors for the materials to be supplied by the customer. Jeff and his crew (Phil, Sean) were all very enjoyable and trustworthy people to have around my home, something that matters a lot when contractors are going to be in your home for an extended period of time. Sometimes, because of the commute to my home, varying amounts of work to do on a given day across the project, and other project commitments of theirs, there was some unpredictable scheduling and re-scheduling, but the changes were always communicated in a timely manner by Jeff, and he is very accessible for you to ask any questions or to discuss anything, scheduling included. This was the reason for my only "B" in the punctuality area. The project duration - the actual construction phase- overall was about 4 months. There were some minor delays related to materials issues (plumbing back orders and an error), and one cabinet replacement required (problems not caused by them). Actually, they are careful to inspect everything, and that was one the reason the cabinetry defect was noticed quickly; the cabinetmaker shipped the replacement fairly quickly and there was no issue with obtaining a replacement, another benefit of the collaborative relationship established between W. Stephens and Jeff. The spirit of servicing and accommodating the customer was of a high quality, what one hopes for. Jeff clearly cares about his customers and the quality of work that he does. I am truly pleased with the renovated rooms in my home; they look beautiful and all feel like inviting and comfortable places to be now, where previously they were significantly worn and even unappealing (e.g. a former Master Bath shower that was like a tile cave now transformed)."
