"Although he was willing to do the work, Mr. Wagle recommended that I replace the carpeting because what I wanted done would not be appropriate for the shape the carpet was in. He measured for me, suggested a carpet company and answered all my questions. Because he had to drive quite a distance to get to my house, he charged me $20 which I thought was very reasonable, especially since he spent quite a bit of time at my home and wasn't required to do the job. The quote he gave me for laying new carpet if I needed him was akso very reasonabls for my size home. I appreciated his help and would recommend him."

"First, I want to say that the job I asked Mr. Sandless Indianapolis to do, was a terrible job. It's a 100 year old restoration with hardwood that had carpet glued down on top of it for many years. They did an amazing job. Stacey was very quick to get an accurate estimate and to get technicians out to the house and started within a week. Everyone I interacted with was courteous and very professional. I asked a number of questions, all of which were answered in a complete and timely fashion. I would gladly recommend to anyone who had hardwood refinishing needs. Thanks!"

"I needed carpet and vinyl flooring installed in a short period of time, which Empire Today was able to fulfill. I felt that I paid a premium for service on short notice, which I expected. The salesperson was a bit pushy and asked more than once, "do we have a deal?", which felt smarmy. On the day of installation, all went as planned until the vinyl installation was complete. The quarter round was not replaced. When I asked about it, the installer said that "it looks fine without it," which I disagreed with. He offered to put caulk down, which helped, but still did not look like a complete project. I did not like how he dismissed my request. I sent more than one email to Empire Today about this problem, but they did not follow up with me about this issue."

"Our purple carpet had about 100 urine stains from previous dogs and our own. The specialist, Robert, matched to color and treated every spot. If we didn't know where they were, we'd never know they spots had been there. Perfect job!"

"We worked with Dan & Bill Smiddy (owners). They are both professional hard working and sincere. They helped us select the right carpet for our needs and likes. They treated our home with respect as if it their home. There quote was a few much less than other companies. We appreciated not paying all the extra mark ups for the same high quality."

"We had issues with them but they were resolved. The company and sales were fine but we had problems with the installers. They marked up all over our walls. Bob's is okay; they are excellent. The installers they hired were not good. The price was good. Bob's took care of the problems and they came out and painted the walls. The installer wouldn't do anything. I would probably use Bob's again."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Harmony, IN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
