Keener Insulating & Supply Inc. has been in business since 1949 providing residential and commercial insulation services to both contractors and homeowners. Services are available for both new contruction and existing properties in Lancaster, York & Chester Counties.

"They gave a price that was lower than a second quote I had received and I was initially impressed with there work. But later after the project was finished I realized they had missed some small spots and had overlooked some large areas that made the attic space very cold in the winter and hot in the summer. They refused to take responsibility and told me it was a 'pre-existing' condition. Not impressed and will never use them again."

""My family and I enjoyed a very positive experience with the Quality Degree team regarding the installation of two new HVAC systems. I was very impressed with the high degree of thoroughness and professionalism shown by Comfort Advisor, Erica Zecca. From the start, Erica made us feel confident and assured in moving forward with Quality Degree, and we were delighted that her estimate was very competitive. The installation team included Ken, Tarik, AJ, Angel, and Daniel. They arrived on time and immediately went to work on the replacement and installation. Throughout the entire process, they were very efficient, communicative, and neat. Ken was diligent in reviewing the new components and their maintenance, and he stated we should call Quality Degree anytime if we have any questions. Allen Restorations, Inc. is a property restoration firm specializing in residential and commercial property losses related to Fire, Water, Mold, BioHazard, Vandalism, and Sewage. From small residential water losses to large commercial reconstruction, Allen Restorations offers 24 hour/7-day emergency service with a 2-hour response time.

"Though my experiences with my Project Manager Chris were all pleasant, I cannot say the same for the contractors themselves who came to work on my home. It was an abysmal experience. After major water pipe damage, I needed immediate emergency demolition followed by restoration. While I continue to be grateful that my situation was considered priority and they began their work in a relatively timely manner, I couldn't allow that to make up for the behavior of the gentlemen at work. The lack of attention to detail and care led to many mistakes, some of which were never truly fixed, some I'm glad I caught before they could allow them to stay that way, such as when they purposelessly unplugged my refrigerator to work behind it, pushed it back in place, and never plugged it back in (it never needed unplugged in the first place). Other problems include: - Taking numerous smoke breaks, up to three an hour, and leaving butts in my yard (we have no smokers in the house). - Using my bathrooms too excessively, leaving a smell and a mess. I understand needing the restroom, but their direct boss would sometimes just show up to use my bathroom and leave, and at any given point at least one of them would be in there. - Doing things incorrectly. They were asked to repaint entire walls, as one would do when restoring them so that it may match, however they only painted over the original problematic areas and called it a day. As well as using the wrong color of paint altogether for one of my rooms and pretending as if they didn't notice until I pointed it out. They added new wall tiles to my bathroom, failed to explain that they weren't made to withstand high humidity, and they've since begun peeling off. Pantry doors were hung unlevel and I couldn't believe I had to explain that they weren't on correctly. I also had a restored carpet that now has holes in the padding underneath that you can feel when you walk over it, they attempted three times to fix it, and every time failed. It remains unfixed because my frustrations grew too large to continue asking. When I first mentioned the carpet problem to one of the contractors, I was met with a shrug and the response of, "We can only do what's on the invoice." You mean the invoice that charges me for you to fix my rug? Huh?? - Leaving my back door hung open and tracking dirt in, as well as wasps and flies, good thing I caught this one before it got worse, otherwise they would've continued. Every surface that could be touched, was touched with dirty hands, and every day I had to clean dirt and dried plaster off of random areas of my house after they left. -Using my things. I had to request they not use my personal garbage for their empty Monster Energy cans, Twinkie wrappers, and random debris. A restoration company should be equipped with trash bags one would imagine. They also freely used my personal dustpan and broom which I'm shocked they didn't have one of, as well as using a pack of baby wipes without asking and leaving them open as well as covered in plaster. I also discovered my upstairs bathroom covered in trash after one of them spilled the bathroom can and never picked up what fell out. I was shocked at how badly these grown men behaved. I'm no saint, but common decency and curtesy should be a major priority when you're in someone else's home, regardless of what you're doing. I felt genuinely disrespected by the employees of this company. When I'm listening to the sounds of someone hawking a loogie into my bathroom sink and flushing without washing their hands and touching everything I own afterwards, something is inherently wrong with who you've hired. Again I must stress, Chris was great and the timeframe to get things started was very agreeable. It's the process itself that dragged due to all the above reasons. After doing a final review with Chris, I was compensated for a lot of the invoice charges that were either irrelevant or just plain done incorrectly, though am still awaiting the check after three weeks. I'm just glad it's over. Be weary of who you let in your home."

Spray foam insulation services FAQs

Yes, you should remove old insulation if it's damaged, contaminated, or deteriorated. Signs like water damage, rodent droppings, mold, or gaps mean removal is essential to maintain energy efficiency and a safe living environment. If the insulation is intact and functioning well, removal isn't necessary. However, compromised insulation can increase energy costs and pose health risks.

Attic insulation lasts 80 to 100 years; however, its performance starts to decline after 15 years. Insulation loses effectiveness as materials like fiberglass become dirty, wet, or affected by mold and other contaminants. Regular evaluation is critical because reduced insulation performance leads to higher energy loss. A professional inspection confirms when replacement is necessary, ensuring that your home maintains peak energy efficiency and comfort.

Excess attic insulation does not enhance energy efficiency beyond an optimal threshold. When insulation surpasses the necessary level for your region’s climate, additional material does not improve heat retention and may cause moisture buildup. Maintaining the correct balance is essential because over-insulation can lead to unintended issues without lowering energy costs. A professional assessment ensures that the amount of insulation is ideal for performance and efficiency, and helps avoid unnecessary expenses.

R-value is the measure of a material’s ability to resist heat transfer and directly determines insulation performance. A higher R-value means the material retains heat efficiently during winter and minimizes energy loss in warmer months. Selecting insulation with the appropriate R-value for your specific location is essential because environmental conditions and installation areas significantly influence energy efficiency. Over time, external factors like moisture may degrade the R-value, which underscores the importance of periodic evaluation.

Insulation damage occurs in several forms, including mold growth, pest infestations, water intrusion, and electrical harm. Damaged insulation compromises heat retention and significantly increases energy expenses while posing serious health risks. Immediate removal and replacement of compromised insulation are imperative to restore optimal performance and ensure the safety of your home. Regular inspections will identify these issues early, allowing for swift corrective action that maintains efficiency and protects occupants.
