"I RECENTLY HAD MY ATTIC INSULATION REPLACED BY MASTER ATTIC. ALEX CAME OUT RIGHT ON SCHEDULE AND GAVE ME A FAIR PRICE. ( I DID HAVE 4 OTHER ESTIMATES) THE CREW LEAD BY ROBERTO WAS AMAZING. THEY WERE VERY CONSIDERATE, CAREFUL IN MAKING SURE THE AREA WAS SEALED OFF AND WERE VERY CAREFUL OF MY PERSONAL BELONGINGS. THEY DID A GREAT JOB IN REMOVING OLD INSULATION , VACUUMING OUT THE ATTIC ,SPRAYED AREA AND SEALED ANY OPENINGS. BEFORE THEY BROUGHT IN NEW INSULATION, THEY ASKED ME IF I WISHED TO TO VIEW THE ATTIC AND I DID. I WAS AMAZED EVEN AT THIS POINT, HOW CLEANED EVERYTHING LOOKED . (THIS INSULATION HAD BEEN UP THERE FOR 70 YEARS) NEW INSULATION WAS INSTALLED AND IT LOOKS GREAT. THE CREWED CLEANED UP EVERYTHING , EVEN VACUUMED THE AREA IN THE ROOM. ALL BAGS OF OLD INSULATION WERE REMOVED PROMPTLY AND I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE."

Customers say: Quick response

"I have to apologize. I thought I reviewed Alligood shortly after the work was done in mid 2015, but apparently messed-up. Jeff Alligood was a pleasure to work with...responsive, professional, and very willing to go the extra mile to help solve our problems. We had squirrels in the attic that trashed the insulation. We scheduled a new roof which included sealing up all the areas where the critters could get in. But then we had to deal with the unhealthy rodent mess. I called over a dozen insulation companies and none were willing to REMOVE insulation. Then I got hold of Jeff thru Angie's List. Not only did they remove all the old, but they also agreed to sanitize both attics. I purchased Odoban from Home Depot which eliminates mold and odors (highly recommended). Jeff's crew sprayed everything and then installed the ducts and insulation. Jeff coordinated the removal and installation to coincide with the roofers so that access could be thru the roof ( which was the only way to access the attic). It all went like clockwork, His team stayed late (7PM+) to insure all was done and the roof sealed up for the night. Before they left they cleaned up so there was no sign they had been working on the house the entire day. Everything was 'All (i) Good' !!! I highly recommend Alligood Energy...!"

"I used AGL in November 2012 to foam the 3rd floor of my 1930's era Ardmore home which was under renovation. The crew did a fantastic job, they were on time and budget, and the house has been much more comfortable and almost draft free since the work was done. I will use them again when I renovate the 1st and 2nd floors."

"

Our primary bedroom is above the garage and even though we have a newer home, you can feel cold air coming thru the floor.  It's the coldest room in the house by far.  Ed's team came in and placed foam insulation in the garage ceiling.  He gave us $100 off for Angies list discount which was nice.  They cleaned up well when done.  Now that it's warm out I can't grade the quality of the work until winter again because I won't know till then if its helping with the problem.  I will come back and update then.  We had been quoted over $6000 by another company to do the work so hopefully this works and comes in far cheaper.

"My experience with AGL e ceded my expectations for the following reasons: 1: They invest the time to educate the customer Spray foam isn't your father's fiberglass insulation. Because it is still a relatively new product, there are a lot more questions that arise as a result. Of all the contractors I interviewed, AGL took the most time to help me understand the science behind this cutting edge product. This was especially important because I was planning to install a new roof as well, and I wanted to ensure that spray foam insulation wouldn't harm the new roof. 2: Expertise Simply put, every time I told a competitor I talked to a contractor about spray foam, the first company they always said was AGL. They are the leaders in the area for spray foam insulation. 3: Customer Service Jeff and the entire team provided great service and walked me through the process 4: The installers These guys are real pros. They were there when they said they would be and they cleaned up well afterwards Spray foam insulation is the best investment I made in my home. It isn't cheap, but the product will pay for itself over time and the house is much more comfortable. Thank you AGL!!!"

FAQs for spray foam insulation projects in Philadelphia, PA

Old insulation should be removed when it shows damage, contamination, or heavy deterioration. If you notice water stains, rodent droppings, mold, or large gaps, plan on taking it out to protect your home’s energy performance and indoor air quality. Removing compromised material eliminates health hazards, cuts energy loss, and sets the stage for a safer, more efficient attic—all while keeping utility bills in check.

R-value measures how well insulation resists heat flow—the higher the number, the better it slows heat transfer. The right R-value keeps your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer, saving energy year-round. Match the rating to your climate zone and have a pro verify performance over time, because moisture or settling can lower R-value and cut efficiency.

Attic insulation can stay in place for 80 to 100 years, but its performance often drops after the first 15. As dust, moisture, or mold build up, the material loses R-value and allows heat to escape. Schedule periodic inspections so a pro can tell you when replacement makes sense—helping you keep energy bills down and indoor comfort up.

You can over-insulate an attic. Beyond the recommended R-value, extra layers don’t add efficiency and can trap moisture, leading to mold or reduced performance. A local insulation pro can measure current levels, confirm the right target for your climate, and advise on any adjustments so you avoid future energy or maintenance headaches.

Insulation can be damaged by mold, pests, water leaks, or accidental electrical contact. When the material is compromised, it loses R-value and can introduce health hazards. Removing and replacing affected sections restores efficiency, while routine inspections from a qualified pro help you catch problems early and keep your attic safe and energy-smart.
