"It was frustrating. I bought the service because of an Angie's List promotion. When I received the package I opened it and saw what it was and set it aside. I was very busy and planned to get to it in a few days. I had to go out of town for a few days, then I had a ridiculous string of bad luck with multiple car breakdowns. I have a neuromuscular disease so everything I do is very difficult and exhausting. With so much happening, I forgot about the test kit. Then after a couple weeks I get a call from Mold Lab asking about the kit saying it was past the due back date and they were going to charge me $25 a day late fee on the pump. I was stunned! I opened the box and there was nothing inside saying it was due by a certain time. I re-read the Angie's List ad and there was nothing there either. The lady was very rude and kept interrupting me saying the same things over and over like maybe I would finally understand if she kept repeating it. I understood the first time. She wouldn't listen to understand I didn't know about the deadline but now that I was made aware of it I would do the testing that day and ship it that day. What else could I do? That wasn't good enough she had to repeat her lecture a few more times. After sending it in I was told I would receive a text when it was complete and I would receive an email with results within a few days. After a month I called and the same lady answered. She claimed to have sent an email, but didn't know the date and told me to check my junk mail folder. I checked everywhere but had no record of it. I explained I hadn't received the text either, she had no response for that. So she sent an email while we were on the phone and I received it immediately. I printed out the results but without the proper training or experience in laboratory sciences it was basically useless."

"Appointment was established after home sale so work was delayed a few weeks from estimate.  Water damage and mold was located under two front arched windows.  Mold was treated / removed & Box headers were repaired / replaced (4 in one window / 2 in another) along with sub flooring support.  Timbor was then sprayed along new wood before 3-2-1 Primer was applied.  <br /> Area was protected with tarp prior to work starting and guys ensured entire area was completely cleaned before they left.  Larry ensured that owner viewed work and he explained repairs / treatment that was accomplished. <br />"

"Okay! He was willing to explain things to me. My home had a humidifier and I did not know that. He was thorough and the report was really detailed. I would recommend him because of his willingness to answer questions and explain things."

"Shannon was very informative and helpful while I was narrowing down my contractor options. He answered many questions truthfully and honestly (and I made multiple calls to him about his plan for the work and the materials he intended to use). When I hired him he was responsive and informative about when he would begin the work, who would assist him, and how long the work would take. He was the person I spoke with from the start of the job to its completion, and he was always on site while the work was being done. The finished product was exactly what I needed, with no extra bells or whistles. He installed a full drainage system in my crawl space, including a sump pump, and ran the discharge line about 30 feet away from my house. Shannon was professional, dependable, and worked for a fair price. I'm very pleased with the work he did and would easily hire him again if I needed to do any sort of crawl space repair or external drainage work."

"Two men came out, an older, very professional man and a younger trainee. The older man was polite, seemed very knowledgeable, checked out this issue as well as inspecting another, inside insect issue we were having and for which he gave a separate estimate. (We feared the insects could be termites; he explained they were acrobat ants that eat insulation--the debris we were seeing was not structurally damaging.) He said the hole was almost surely from a raccoon, saw no evidence of them himself with visual inspection with flashlight from the ladder, but still pointed out it was breeding season, and since we had heard some noises, that he would not recommend sealing the house up with any possibility at all that there were animals in there--the hole, he said, was definite evidence they had been there at some point. We followed the recommendations of both companies and followed through on the service. They put a cage on the roof with food in it and planned to leave it there ten days, check daily for animals or evidence the food was eaten. At one point, a snow storm came through (as had been predicted) and they closed the cage, not checking it as the cold temps and snow meant the animals would not be out anyway. They reopened the cages and completed the process. On the 9th day, a squirrel was caught, but we were all sure it had come for the peanut butter and was never inside the house. We paid them, the repairs were completed by the other company, and we've had no problems since. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />It's a bit frustrating to have had to pay this much money and found no animals, and it's hard not to wonder if it had really been necessary at all--we never really thought we had raccoons--but we determined it best not to seal the house without having it done. And, of course, had they found something, it would have been a very good thing we had taken the time and expense to do it. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />As I work at home, I would have felt better throughout if they had knocked on the door each day they said they inspected. I only saw and heard them do it once and was always concerned whether or not they were actually checking. The final paperwork from the company showed a checklist, though, with dates the worker(s) had come and noted nothing found. <br />"

"Outstandingly well! Environ Deco worked like trojans to get my garage mold mitigated and my house on the market for me as soon as possible. Gabe, the owner, has been in mold mitigation in the Fort Wayne area for about 10 years, and all his staff (I think there are about nine, with Gabe's wife handling the phone) are not only trusted colleagues but his friends. In addition to being excellent workers--and kind and reassuring to me in a very stressful situation--Environ Deco is a green company in the messy, toxic line of mold mitigation. Everything they use for mold mitigation--all products and processes--are 100% green/biodegradable or organic Their top green certifications are IICRC, MICRO, IAQ and EPA Lead Safe."

FAQs for mold & toxic material test projects in Hartford City, IN

Some companies offer a no‑cost phone or video consultation that screens for red flags. If the discussion points to a real issue, the pro will recommend a paid on‑site inspection. The complimentary call clarifies whether you need full testing, but it isn’t a substitute for samples, lab work, or a written report. Always confirm what the free service covers before you schedule.

A standard inspection, which includes basic air and surface samples, takes an average of two hours. If the pro needs to probe hidden spaces, such as wall cavities or ductwork, plan on up to six hours. Extra time allows the inspector to reach tight areas, collect additional samples, and document findings. Lab analysis is a separate process and often adds several business days to the overall timeframe before you receive the full report.

Mold thrives where moisture lingers and air flow is poor. Common hotspots include bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes, window sills, HVAC vents, fireplaces, crawl spaces, and enclosed attics. Check these areas regularly—especially after leaks or high‑humidity weather—to catch growth early and avoid costly repairs.

Unchecked mold can knock 20% to 37% off a home’s market value because buyers worry about hidden damage and health risks. Even after remediation, visible staining or a history of major moisture issues can still lower offers and prolong the time on the market. Addressing mold quickly protects both your property’s structural integrity and its resale appeal.
