"They were extremely responsive and professional. Someone was dispatched to my home within 24 hours. He accurately diagnosed the problem - that the condensate pump had failed and needed to be replaced. He offered to replace it immediately because he had the part on his truck. The price quote ranged from $1350-$2100 depending on length of warranty I preferred. This seemed extremely high because I had the part replaced once before 3-4 years ago by another company for approx $400. I mentioned that to the installer; he indicated that the price was the price and he was sorry he couldn’t lower it. I found the identical pump online for prices ranging from $35-$75! It looked like an easy swap, so instead of paying Rodenhiser, I ordered the part from Amazon, received it the next day. I have zero experience or training and was able to swap it and fix the problem in literally 10 minutes. I understand that service companies need to charge for labor and mark up parts costs, but a repair I could do in 10 mins for under $50 should not have carried a $1350+ price tag! This was very disappointing, and I will not use them again."

"When we decided to finish the large basement of our ranch-style home, Lancaster Home Remodeling was on our list of businesses to consider. Upon our contacting John and Kim, we secured an appointment in the near future for John to go through our basement with our architect after he finished up work for the day on his then-current project. At this initial appointment, John asked detailed questions, making sure that he understood everything about the project which our architect had planned. John and Kim were clear that they would not be able to start construction for several months because of John’s current project’s timeline. However, the work in our basement began in very close proximity to their original estimate of when they expected that it would. When construction began, John worked diligently and methodically. Everything he did —from insulation and framing, to boxing out for pipes, to installing subfloor and prepping for flooring and blue board installation —seemed to take as long as it needed to in order to be done right; then he moved on. He kept us informed of the process as he went along, and was consistently on the job when he said he would be. The other specialists he hired to do other aspects — electrical, plumbing, plaster and paint, and tile for a bathroom, worked quickly, and to date it appears they have done an excellent job. He introduced us to businesses in the area which offered a customer friendly experience in terms of selecting tiles, paint, and bathroom fixtures. And where he offered advice in these areas, he understood that every homeowner has their own style and preferences, and directed his his counsel towards brands that would offer diverse selection and high quality. Personally, after numerous conversations with them, we found both John and Kim to be affable and people-friendly. John was always happy to explain what he would be doing next, and why he did what he did in terms of his construction techniques. Our experience has left us far more than satisfied with our experience with Lancaster Home Improvement, and shows that John and Kim run their business with professionalism, expertise, and a true pride in the work which they do. "We had a roof repair that needed to be done fairly quickly. Lou showed up the morning after I requested quotes, walked the roof and gave us a fair quote for the work. He showed up when promised and did a terrific job making the repair. I will absolutely use Lou the next time I need any roof work done - very highly recommend!"

It went well. They arrived on time and we had a discussion about the roof. I filled him on my questions and my concerns with a small leak I had in the upstairs bathroom.

In about 10 minutes they were up on the roof walking around and taking pictures.  They gave me a review of my roof and what they saw as an issue.  They were very "just the facts" about it which I appreciated.

They quickly diagnosed the leak issue as an aging, cracking rubber seal around my roof sewer vent. They put rubber cement around the faulty rubber seal to create a temporary workaround until it can be properly fixed. 

They found that I have 2 shingles that are being pushed up by the underlying plywood. They also sealed those where the shingle glue has stopped being adhesive to each other. 

They also diagnosed that when my roof was originally shingled, there was no tar paper barrier put underneath the shingles, which was an eye opener.

They inspected my dormers and chimney flashing and said that was in good shape.

The inspection took about 1 hour, they answered a flurry of questions from me.  They said it was time for a new roof, which I already knew (about 20 years old now) and sent me an estimate including ridge vent installation and the overall cost.  He also sent me the pictures in email that I requested of the shingles and the sewer vent seal.

The quote was in range with what I understand to be what the cost for my roof will be about: $7800.  I expect my roof to be in the range of $6500-9000 with estimates and this came right in the middle. It was a competitive offer.

We are not ready to replace yet, but based on the experience, when we decide next year to replace, I will have them included in the bids as they were professional and DID solve my leak issue.  We have had several rain storms since and the leak has ceased.
