They paid attention to the small details of the tile work, which I very much appreciated. They painted, re-installed towel rods and made everything just right. Jeff's team was always conscientious and flexible. They kept the work area clean and neat. Jeff was good about getting back to me quickly and updating me on the work. I am guessing this was a small job for them but they treated it like any other job, and got the work done more or less when we had planned. "This was a BIG structural, challenging project that and the first significant renovation my husband and I have ever been involved with. I had worked with Pedro (principal of Crystal Construction) on a couple of small jobs previously. His work had been excellent and so we trusted him with this much more significant job. We didn't hire an architect because we were essentially keeping the same three-room layout that existed in the basement, but we did need a structural engineer that Pedro connected us with in order to remove two of the three posts that split up the basement's largest room, and replace it with a beam. Subcontractors hired by Pedro did the electrical work (significant, as it involved moving our panel, mentioned above), plumbing (also significant as we were adding a bathroom, and due to the existing plumbing we had to install a pump to move waste water from the shower and toilet to the waste pipe), and HVAC.
Pedro is terrific to work with. Aside from the VERY high-quality end product he delivers, really the greatest thing about him is he is incredibly responsive and communicative. We were in daily text or phone contact through out the summer (job ran from mid-June through mid-November) and I was never left wondering what was going on or where he was. With a job as large and long as this one, that's incredibly important and valuable. He's personable and very pleasant to deal with - again, really important when you are working with someone as closely as you are with your general contractor on a major project. There were a number of structural challenges involved in this project and we were able to work together very well to figure them out. There were very few added costs, none of them due to Pedro or his subs but rather previous (shoddy) work that had been done on the house. About a quarter of the way through the project we also decided that we wanted to remove the bulkhead - our own choice to add costs and time.
All Pedro's own employees and the subs he used were also extremely nice and easy to deal with. Everyone did a great job containing the mess and aside from the dumpster in our driveway and the building permit on the door, most of the time we wouldn't have known they were there. While much of this was due to the nature of the project - we hadn't used the basement for anything but storage previously and other areas of the house were largely unaffected - everyone was extremely courteous and considerate. I highly recommend Crystal Construction."

"Peter and Billy installed a mini-split a/c system in my home recently. There were 3 head units on 3 different floors. They arrived on time, discussed the work with me, and explained what they were doing when I would pop in to check on the progress. It was a two-day installation with rain on the first day and heat/humidity on the second. Throughout both days both Peter and Billy remained of good cheer, working efficiently, without a grumble about the weather. An electrician, Chris, joined them on the second day and completed his work quickly. He even took the time to tack up a dangling powerline in the drop ceiling of the basement that wasn't part of the a/c install. Mid-afternoon on the second day everything was complete. Peter walked me through the work they had done, inside and outside. He asked if I had any questions or concerns. I'm very happy with the work that was done and would recommend them to anyone who asked."

"When we decided to finish the large basement of our ranch-style home, Lancaster Home Remodeling was on our list of businesses to consider. Upon our contacting John and Kim, we secured an appointment in the near future for John to go through our basement with our architect after he finished up work for the day on his then-current project. At this initial appointment, John asked detailed questions, making sure that he understood everything about the project which our architect had planned. John and Kim were clear that they would not be able to start construction for several months because of John’s current project’s timeline. However, the work in our basement began in very close proximity to their original estimate of when they expected that it would. When construction began, John worked diligently and methodically. Everything he did —from insulation and framing, to boxing out for pipes, to installing subfloor and prepping for flooring and blue board installation —seemed to take as long as it needed to in order to be done right; then he moved on. He kept us informed of the process as he went along, and was consistently on the job when he said he would be. The other specialists he hired to do other aspects — electrical, plumbing, plaster and paint, and tile for a bathroom, worked quickly, and to date it appears they have done an excellent job. He introduced us to businesses in the area which offered a customer friendly experience in terms of selecting tiles, paint, and bathroom fixtures. And where he offered advice in these areas, he understood that every homeowner has their own style and preferences, and directed his his counsel towards brands that would offer diverse selection and high quality. Personally, after numerous conversations with them, we found both John and Kim to be affable and people-friendly. John was always happy to explain what he would be doing next, and why he did what he did in terms of his construction techniques. Our experience has left us far more than satisfied with our experience with Lancaster Home Improvement, and shows that John and Kim run their business with professionalism, expertise, and a true pride in the work which they do. We unreservedly recommend them for your own project, and will continue to work with them as our own needs arise."
