Finally, it was a complicated job - replacing a large HVAC unit piece by piece through a small access hole in a master closet - and he took great care to protect the walls, shelving and closet contents. "I had an absolutely terrible experience with McRae Air Conditioning and Heating. I purchased a home equipped with their HVAC system, and within just five months, the heat stopped working—right in the middle of winter during a snowstorm. My home was freezing at 50°F, so I called for service, which should have been covered under warranty. I scheduled an appointment, and the technician, after being several hours late, went to the wrong address, left a sticker on someone else’s door, and left without even trying to contact me. When I called back, the customer service rep was rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. He initially told me the technician was on the way and just 12 miles away—but after another hour of waiting, I called again only to be told that the technician had already “been to my house 2 hours ago” (the wrong one) and left a note. If the rep actually wanted to help, he would have told me this during my first call instead of wasting my time and leaving me sitting in the cold. Not once did the technician call me to confirm the address or check in after knocking on the wrong door. When I expressed my frustration, the rep rudely dismissed my concerns, saying, “Well, I had nothing to do with that,” and then interrupted me with, “Do you still want to rebook or not?” as if I had to stop talking or risk not getting another appointment. This was an emergency call in the middle of winter, and McRae handled it in the most unprofessional, careless, and disappointing way possible. If you’re considering using them for HVAC service, do yourself a favor and go with another company. I’ll update this review after the (hopefully successful) service call and speaking to the manager who was not there at 4 pm on a Wednesday."

"Adam, the service technician was courteous, thorough and very professional. He explained what he was doing, and his expectations. He did a great job on clearing the clog in my kitchen garbage disposal/sink, and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. I would definitely recommend and hire him again!"

"I have used Grove for many years, and even had them replace on of my failing units. Within the past 18 months, our secondary unit started having problems and Grove came out multiple times to service the unit, explaining that it was losing refrigerant and needed to be replaced. They were always very quick to provide an estimate to replace the unit after charging it. Before replacing the unit we had a different vendor come to give a second opinion, to ensure we were informed and I am so happy that we did. We found that the unit wasn’t only running out of refrigerant, but that it was massively overcharged and that the overpressure safeties had been defeated. I’m not sure if Grove was simply negligent or if they were trying to trick us into paying for a replacement, but I can say that I won’t be using them again. The unit they replaced for us is already dead, and they are quoting us an additional $2k to repair it, putting the total cost for the unit at nearly $10k. All said I have probably paid Grove thousands of dollars and it’s impossible to tell what of that was legitimate and what of it was them running up the bill. I can tell you that at one point they made an emergency visit late at night, spent 15 minutes looking at, and cleaning my compressors, charged me $1000, and then proceeded to text me pictures of them on vacation, presumably enjoying spending the money I had paid them. While I really like Grove, I would suggest you get a second opinion regarding whatever they tell you and that you check your bill very thoroughly."

"I called to get an inspection done on my AC unit and was quoted $90 for the inspection plus $120 an hr for ADDITIONAL hrs. I ASKED when do I know when the “additional hrs start”, He stated that the tech would let me know once the inspection was done and then at that time he would let me know if there was work that needed to be fixed or if there was nothing then the service would end and I would only have to pay the $90. They charged me $210 for the inspection. I called and requested that we both listen to the call (Because all calls are recorded) They played the call, heard what the rep said and then stated they would get back to me. When I finally reached them again (they never called me back), they stated I would not get a refund, then replayed the call cutting out the part when the rep stated clearly that the service was only $90. They not only GASLIGHTED me, but they altered the recording. $120 may not matter to most but it sure matters to me."
