"The service rep appeared quite qualified and able to converse in layman language about the issue (central a/c). He was not able to pinpoint exactly where the refrigerant leak was, which is not unusual. The a/c has been working since he added more. I did think the price was somewhat high when compared to past similar service."

"This was the best service with 2 highly qualified gentlemen. They were both knowlegable and friendly. They arrived 20 minutes after the initial call which was at the end of their day. They could have gone home for the day like the bigger companies did but instead they stopped on their way home and serviced my central air condition system in the middle of a heat wave. Unlike the other companies that I called who couldn't respond for 3 to 5 days even after I explained I had an infant to keep cool. If you're looking for a reliable company MTS is where you should shop"

"It was a pleasure meeting & having the owners Mike & Steve do a simple repair (vs trying to upsell more than what was needed). They were able to take care of it quickly (during the coming heat wave week). Customer service, honesty, and knowledge well worth the price. Wishing Mike & Steve good luck expanding their business! Thank you!"

Customers say: Terrific value

"As a new homeowner, I am learning a lot and owner Rodney took the time to make sure he not only fixed my furnace but also educated me on how things worked. I very much appreciated his great customer service and personality. He came the same day any time I called. He took care of the problem quickly and was very knowledgeable."

FAQs for central a/c service or repair projects in Providence, RI

A condenser fan motor is a crucial part of your air conditioner that prevents the compressor from overheating. It pulls heat from your AC unit to cool the refrigerant moving through the condenser coils. This allows your system to blow cool air and keeps everything running smoothly.

The most common causes of AC fan motor failure include loss of lubricant in the system due to overheating and a rusted or leaking run capacitor. Poor lubrication can also cause failure in the belt drive, which may impact the AC fan motor. Weather and electrical components can also affect your AC. For example, a storm could send water into your motor windings and damage the internal components.

Air conditioner fan motors last about 12 years on average, though they can last longer if maintained well. This includes keeping them clean and cooled as needed with annual air conditioner checkups. Routine maintenance is essential to catch AC fan issues early. An HVAC inspection can cost between $70 and $500, while AC cleaning services may range from $100 to $400.

A broken AC fan motor may need replacement because this part usually can’t be repaired. Several things indicate it’s time to replace your AC fan motor, including buzzing noises, a constantly running fan, unusually high energy bills, or an aging system. If you notice these signs, call an HVAC pro for help before the faulty motor starts to strain other parts of the AC system.

There are clear warning signs of a bad AC fan motor, including unusual interruptions in the fan operation. The motor might be malfunctioning if you hear weird noises like grinding or rattling or if the fan continues to spin when the unit is off. These indicators compromise your AC’s cooling performance and increase your energy costs. Addressing these issues immediately by contacting a trusted HVAC professional prevents further damage and safeguards your HVAC's efficiency.

Replacing your AC fan motor takes a professional one to four hours. The technician will start by assessing your system and safely removing the damaged motor. If a new part needs to be ordered, it might take a few days. Once the part is available, your pro will install it properly and make sure your system is running smoothly.
