"David, a salesman for Simas Floors, visited my home before the work was done to see exactly what my hardwood floors needed to be pretty again.  He is very personable and professional.  Jay, Chris, and Robert, who refinished my hardwood floors, did an excellent job; they were prompt, professional, thorough, and stirred up an incredibly small amount of dust.  They explained the advantages of using a water or an oil-based finish; I opted for a water-based polyurethane because a catalyst can be added to the last coat (in this case, the fourth coat) that will extend the life of the finish to 25-40 years.  Although I could have hired someone else at a lower cost, I am confident that I now have the best refinish money can buy, and I won't be moving the furniture out of the rooms for the rest of my life!"

"Adrian and his team are amazing! We needed our install done with very short notice and they made it happen. I only wish we had discovered them sooner. Great price and amazing work. We are super picky people and completely satisfied with the job performed."

"Did not know better but took first quote. They were going to charge $400 for everything so I accepted. When tech showed up he said that the $400 quote was for either service not both. As I needed to have work done and they said there would be an additional charge if I rescheduled anyway, we agreed to pay and had the work done. Carpets looked good not great when they finished. On next cleaning used taylor restoration (no longer providing these services) and they got stains out coit said they couldn't. They also steam cleaned my entire house carpeted areas and upholstered furniture for $150. This was several years ago so perhaps they have improved as well as their pricing but for what I paid I was definitely not satisfied with the results and will not use them again."

"Our purple carpet had about 100 urine stains from previous dogs and our own. The specialist, Robert, matched to color and treated every spot. If we didn't know where they were, we'd never know they spots had been there. Perfect job!"

"They did a terrific job!.  They came and measured the whole house (for future flooring purchases) they were on time, courteous and very pofessional.  The carpet came in early, they called to schedule installaiton and three days later I had new carpet in that bedroom.  The carpet quality is good and they removed the old carpet and pad.  I am now using them to replace the floors in my three bathrooms!!!

"The price was very reasonable and the quality of the carpet great. We
were told to check Big Bob's because they had a warehouse of carpet in
stock and we needed the carpeting quickly. Other stores were quoting
2-3 weeks to get the carpet unless we chose the very limited selection
of in stock carpet (which was not the quality desired). Big Bob's had a
good on hand selection. I found what I wanted in the warehouse and
within two days the carpet was arriving at my front door, delivery by
the installer. The installers were very efficient, professional, and
cleaned up very well after the job. Would definitely use them again.

"Pleased by the large selection of flooring in their small showroom. Great individualized attention. Was impressed that their installers have been with them for 20+ years. However, they were busy and sent out a different installer for my job. I assumed it was the long-time installer until I noticed air bubbles forming under the sheet vinyl/fiberglass several days later. By the end of two weeks there were so many bubbles that the owners decided to start over. They had their long-time installer tear out the mess and install new material. He had to come out one more time for a quick repair on some finish work, but the floor looks and feels great now. It was inconvenient for us, and an expensive for them, but the owners made it clear they would make things right, which was calming and appreciated."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Holt, CA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
