"Arrived on schedule. Went through the elimination process and determined problem was in the line to the pump or the pump itself (no water pressure). The service rep explained everything so that I understood fully what was going to happen. The pipe to the well motor was pulled up and a nickel sized hole was found in the pipe about 10 feet from the pump. The pipeline was galvanized metal and was very rusty. More holes were sure to develop; so, I had the whole line replaced. We also found the pump was 30 plus years old so, I had that replaced too. The service rep kept me informed through the entire installation process; as well as what to do after everything was completed. The pump had to be flushed with chlorine so, there is a short waiting process, tap flushing proceedure and water testing that he explained before leaving."

"The senior project specialist was Jimmy. He did a great job of keeping us informed at all stages of the project (interior drain tile installation). Nanod was the plumber who did the final installation of the sump pump set-up and discharge configuration. Nanod did an outstanding job on the route of the discharge piping , having assessed that the originally considered discharge configuration might have adversely affected our neighbor."

"Our well pump started running almost constantly, so after searching Angie's List, we called Schaeffer Brothers Pump and Water Conditioning to come out and look at it.  They determined that a switch needed to be replaced. Since the well pump was 23 years old, we decided to have it replaced. <br /> Schaefer's came out to replace it within a week, even though the weather was cold. We (and our neighbors) watched as the crane pulled up the old pump and it was replaced with the new one. It took about 8 hours of hard work in miserable weather, but they kept working until it was finished. There wasn't much inconvenience to us--the water had to be shut off for a few hours, and the well had to be chlorinated, so we used bottled water for a few days. We are still in the process of having the water tested for purity since it fell a little short of the recommendations the first time. <br /> While it's not very exciting to sink almost $3,000 into the ground, we were very pleased with Schaefer Bros. and the work they did. We would definitely recommend them. <br />"

"On July 3, found water heater in basement with puddle of water. Called John and he came out to the house, replaced the water heater and removed my old water heater. Even though it was a holiday weekend, John was very responsive and provided significant customer service that was greatly appreciated. Would highly recommend John and Water Heater Express!!"

"Sorry in advance for my story being a bit long-winded. We live in a 48-year old home with a mish-mash of plumbing systems. Original plumbing was copper pipe. There is also some PVC plastic pipe, along with a section of cast iron ("pig iron"). No plumbing issues for around 20 years or more. Yesterday (March 4, 2018), while washing dishes in the kitchen sink, I heard a "bloop-bloop" sound coming from somewhere. No idea what it was. Kept washing dishes and the noise got louder and longer. Walked into a half-bathroom at the end of the kitchen and the noises I was hearing came from the toilet. All the water I was using in the kitchen sink had bubbled up into the toilet, and there must have been a clog in the drain line of the half-bath sink, toilet and the kitchen sink. All 3 drain into the same line. That line exits under the attached garage and has a right-bend where the line continues to the middle of the front of the house where a line serving the bedrooms of the house and basement exit into the city sewer line. That end of the house seemed to work fine. The pipe under a portion of the garage and front porch is cast iron and the PVC was attached to each end. I knew I couldn't flush the toilet, as it would have run over. I let it sit a couple hours and the water level slowly dropped to a more normal one. Flushing the toilet only filled it back up again. I had used S&K Pump and Plumbing a few years ago to get our well passed. We didn't have a vermin proof cap on the well at that time and one was put on and chlorine pellets were used we had to flush out after the prescribed amount of time. When contacting S&K back then, they were very prompt in dealing with my problem and it was done right the first time. So, I decided to contact them again. I used the "Contact" link on their web site, which turned out to be an e-mail link. Figured I'd wait for a call on Monday. Later in the day, after using water from our reverse osmosis system, I had forgotten that we only use 1/3rd of the water created by the reverse osmosis system. 2/3rds of it is waste water, which gets added to the kitchen sink drain. Went into the half-bathroom to check on the water level and the bowl was filled right up to the top. All that waste water went directly into the toilet. At that point, we were done for. Couldn't use the kitchen and drinking water was out of the question. Moreover, when I went down to turn off the reverse osmosis incoming water line, the water pressure in the bowl was so increased that I had drips of water coming out in 5 spots under the toilet from the floor above the crawl space. I went back to S&K's "Contact" site to give them an update. Bailed out the toilet and the tank by hand and went to bed. Bright and early at 6am today, Tom called from S&K. He said a service guy would be over to our house by 7:30am. Brett was a few minutes later than 7:30am today. I showed him the problem and how the lines connect. He went right to work. He drained and removed the toilet, got the old wax seal out, and brought in his sewer machine with extensions to ream out the pipe to get to the clog. There was water in the drain pipe and then the water disappeared, so he must have busted through the clog. No evidence of it was found on the cutter blade. He did encounter an obstacle around 45 feet in or more. That is where the PVC transitions into the cast iron section and lead is used to seal the joints in cast iron. The sealing was improperly done back in 1970 and lead had puddled up on the bottom of the pipe. His cutter wouldn't go through that. For an additional fee, Brett had a underwater camera shipped out to the house while he was here and he ran that down the drain line to see where the obstruction was. That confirmed his theory that lead was puddled in the bottom of the pipe, and that was in 2 places in that section of pipe. He reinstalled the toilet, made sure there were no leaks from the floor or below in the crawl space, turned my reverse osmosis back on, and gave me the bill. The cost was $838 and change, and of that, $325 was the fee to feed the camera down the drain line. The work took roughly 2 hours. When he got done, you couldn't tell he had been here. My house is back up and running and I can use the kitchen, toilet, and have drinking water. My guess is that the basic costs of plumbing are pretty much the same no matter which plumbing service one uses. There is always a trip charge ($85) and hourly rate ($168), along with charge for using specialized equipment. What I based my rating on was the promptness in which my plumbing problem was handled and presume that when a kitchen is down in addition to no drinking water, that brings it up to "DEFCON 5" on the emergency scale. S&K was absolutely there when I needed them, and they are now going to be my "go-to" plumbers. Dr. Stu T. (Ret.) Delafield, WI"

FAQs for sump pump repair or replace projects in Hubertus, WI

Sump pumps last about 10 years with proper maintenance and prompt repairs. Several factors can influence your sump pump’s lifespan, such as usage, environmental conditions, and installation. Premium sump pumps with heavy-duty motors and quality components tend to last longer than lower-cost models. Pedestal sump pumps usually last longer than submersible models since they’re not constantly exposed to water.

A basement French drain is a drainage system installed in basements or around a building’s foundation to redirect water and prevent flooding. This system features a trench with a perforated pipe that catches and transports water away. These systems can crack, freeze, or clog, potentially resulting in flooding or strain on your sump pump.

You can use a sump pump in your yard to minimize pooling water and landscape damage, but it’s best used in conjunction with other drainage systems. This can include French drains, trench drains, underground downspouts, and other equipment. Proper lawn care, such as soil aeration and native plants, also aids with drainage.
