"Installation went pretty good, was done over a 2 day time frame to give us time to move furniture around. Overall satisfied, but there are some areas on outside wall corners where the installers just dropped the carpet into place and allowed the rough backing to scratch and peel paint off our walls, some areas as high as 3 feet off the ground. Also, seams at doorways are pretty visible, more than our previous carpet installation. It could partly be the style of carpet, but we were led to believe this carpet would have nearly invisible seams which just is not the case."

"Jack Laurie had to subcontract the floor refinishing.  I have the say that the refinisher did a great job sanding and prepping my floor! I love the stain and the top coating he put on has so far been very durable.  I have dogs in the house and needed something that would somewhat withstand their claws. The refinisher took a few days longer than first estimated, but I know that can happen.  He sort of dropped the ball on the finish work - in some areas around the edges the workmanship was bad.  Jack Laurie had to call in a second refinisher to repair the mistakes of the first one. So all in all, not a real satisfactory job BUT Jack Laurie stayed with it until the job was done. The carpet installation went much more smoothly and looks good. I have no issues there at this point. It has only been two weeks but so far it seems to be holding up. They were prompt with installing as soon as the product was here, showed up when they said they would, and got the job done quickly. I am not sure about the price point - I think they might run in the middle of the pack on pricing."

"We absolutely love the new tile! It is beautiful and was very reasonably priced. We had budgeted more than the final cost, even after adding upstairs bathroom. The installers were friendly, courteous and performed excellent work. They went to great lengths to contain any mess and cleaned up promptly after the work was completed. <br />"

"The floor looks like a million bucks... they pulled the carpet and hauled it away... vacuumed everything up then started on the hardwood. It took a bit of special cutting to match up with hardwood in the adjoining room... cant tell they were laid several years apart. Then they removed the old tile in the foyer and replaced it with slate in an irregular pattern. Wow. I think they were in and out over a three day period. Cleaned up after themselves each time. Nice job guys."

"<p>What can I say about Robert Bruns? He does not like to get to many things in writing I suppose I can blame both sides for that. The original deal was to complete the work and he said that he did not want to be paid until completion. We told him we were willing to give half upfront and half when the job is done.Mr.bruns said no he would take the whole sum when completed.About a week later he started on the job and he would leave and not come back.I would wait and call him 2 hours later and he would say something came up and he would come the next day. Then he would show up the next day and maybe skip two days.I would call him and sometimes he would return my call and there was times when he did not call back for a couple of days. All of this was causing a lot of trouble in my house and one of my family members got very upset with Mr.burns and when he called she told him that this whole thing was crazy.By this time Mr.burns had completed the first bathroom and decided that he wanted payed for half the work.Well that was not the deal we made hence what I said in the beginning about getting something in writing. So then we all had to talk about what was said at the start of the job and we did not agree on everything. So then Mr.bruns completed the job until the end but the whole job took 2 1/2 weeks total to complete.I know that Mr.bruns had other jobs to do but that is no excuse for how you handled yourself. No call no show and not always returning calls and blowing off half days and saying you will be back and then calling with a excuse.Mr.bruns can do good work he just has too much going on.</p> <p> </p> <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Huntertown, IN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
