"I hired OC Home Builders Inc. to build an ADU for me. Their service has been great. Jim and America did a good job keeping the project moving and taking care of issues as they arose. In particular I felt they kept me well informed about what was going on with job as it progressed. Jim made some great suggestions along the way to improved the finished product. This is a family company and I felt I got to know and appreciate all of them during the course of the project. They all work very hard to get the job done. As a home owner, I highly recommend this company to anyone who needs a general contractor for major constructions work."

"Our initial meeting with Suj was great. Initially, we had in mind a much larger job. He had quoted us $3000 for the closet demolition / wall rebuild (non-load bearing), packaged with several other items. Together with the fee for drawings ($4000) and permits, this was a bit higher than we anticipated. However, we decided to go with Suj due to his responsiveness and professionalism. Out of our other quotes, Suj’s pricing was middle of the pack - not the cheapest or most expensive. When the drawings were complete and evaluated, he gave us an updated cost of $6000 over text message. The scope of work had changed, and this was no longer part of a bigger project - understandable. The issue was when he gave us the official estimate a week later and up’d the price once again to $9000. When asked what happened, his exact words were “well, I need to get paid too”. He had weeks to consider before quoting the $6000 and nothing had changed since then. The extra $3000 may be insignificant compared to most renovation costs, but for us in our first home, this was back breaking. We continued with Suj since we were already locked in and well past the 3 day cancellation period. Their work for the most part was exceptional. The new wall blended perfectly into our existing structure, and the ceiling patch was also well done. The problem here was the floor. They had dug up a 1” deep pit in the floor, likely to remove the wall studs. However, they did not patch the floor or even let us know this was going to be an issue. We were never told about the pit until I decided to check in on their progress one day towards the end of the wall build. This required us to pay a handyman to come in next day on a weekend to patch the concrete since we had cabinets being installed the following Tuesday. Suj was aware of this and did not believe it pertinent information. Overall, Suj and SoCal Builders do quality work, but the issues in pricing consistency lost us before the work even started. Not even telling us that we’d be left with a 1” deep pit in our floor after was another huge issue which should’ve been brought up much earlier. This was our first experience with a contractor and I’m not sure if this is typical or not. However, it’s enough to make me doubt I’d contact them for any future work."
Completely renovating both the guest and master bathrooms. In the master bathroom, we're installing a spacious walk-in shower featuring dual black-finished shower heads, elegant floating benches, and marble wall tiles. Meanwhile, the guest bathroom will have a sleek built-in tub and stylish hexagon tiles.
This project involved adding a new master bathroom to the existing house. The shower features sleek white subway tiles complemented by striking black fixtures and shower door hardware. The bathroom floor is adorned with elegant white marble tiles, providing a seamless and luxurious finish. A white shaker vanity topped with a white marble countertop completes the space, creating a clean and sophisticated look.

"I can’t say enough good things about D2A Construction and Dani, our project manager. From the very first consultation to the final walkthrough, everything went smoothly. Dani was incredibly professional and always kept us in the loop. The kitchen remodel was done on time and within budget, which was a huge relief. The crew was respectful, polite, and left the place clean every day. I really appreciated how Dani handled every question we had without making us feel like a hassle. The craftsmanship is top-notch — our kitchen looks better than I ever imagined. Highly recommend them if you want a no-stress remodeling experience."

"I recently worked with HA My Design to build an ADU, and I could not be happier with the results. Golan and his crew were always on time and worked hard to ensure the project was completed within budget. The quality of their work was excellent, and they were quick and efficient. "I hired Kyle for a $14,000 home remodeling project based on reviews from Angie's List and Yelp, and overall, I am satisfied with the work Kyle and his team performed and I feel like I got my money's worth. Below are my thoughts: 1. Timeliness: Kyle's crew showed up on time every day and stuck to the schedule. The entire project stayed mostly on track. Things were slightly delayed due to city inspection, but that was a factor beyond Kyle's control. So definitely an A there. 2. Quality of work - I had three major projects in this remodeling, and below are my thoughts on them: a. Conversion of a bedroom into a mudroom/entry room to garage: For some reason this new house I bought did not have an access door from garage directly into the house, so I hired Kyle to remedy this by turning a bedroom that shares a common wall with the garage into a mud room with an access door. Job involved cutting the wall open and installing a fire rated entry door, as well as removing old wall paper and repainting the room. This job was done very well and definitely an A there. b. Bathroom remodeling: I also had Kyle remove an old bathtub & tile surround and replace it with a new jacuzzi tub, new tiles and an updated tub door. We also had the toilet repositioned as well. Final quality of work was very nicely done and we were very pleased with how the new tiles turned out. Regrettably, the new bath tub got a small 1" size scratch on one of the rim and I had to touch up paint it afterwards. So A-/B+ there due to my new tub getting scratched up during tile installation. c. House electrical upgrade: I had Kyle and his crew installing an 100 amp subpanel with 2x 50 amp outlets in the garage for EV charging. I also had multiple new outlets installed throughout the house. All the newly installed outlets worked very well and I am pleased with the results. However, after all the electrical work were done, three of my outlets in the house lost power due to a "open neutral". To make a long story short, Kyle's crew tried to trouble shoot it for the better part of a day but couldn't figure out what caused it. All the worker could say is that he doesn't think it was caused by their work. As this happened at the very end of the entire remodeling project and I was uncertain whose fault it was, I ended up just letting it go. Subsequently I did more troubleshooting on my own and after several hours of trial-and-error testing using a multimeter, I found a loose neutral wire in a bathroom switch box Kyle's crew worked on. The loose neutral wire was covered up by a bunch of other wire and wire nuts in the switch box. Once that wire was reconnected, the three dead outlets became functional again. My guess is that the wire got shaken loose when Kyle's crew swap out the switches in that box with new light and fan switches, and no one realized it because that wire was buried behind other wires. I can understand how Kyle's worker missed it while trying to trouble shoot this issue. However, I'm still a bit miffed that I end up having to fix this problem myself. Thus, while the newly installed outlets are great, I am not too thrilled with the fact that his worker knocked a wire loose while changing out bathroom switches and couldn't fix the problem. So on this part of the project, I would give Kyle's team an A on the new outlets and C for causing collateral damage on my other outlets that I had to fix myself. 3. Conclusion - other than the problems with the loose neutral wire and the scratch to the new tub noted above, everything else went smoothly. Thus, in light of the scope of this remodeling project, I decided that these two issues are minor and don't detract too much from the overall success. Thus, I ended up giving Kyle and his crew an A- overall."

"Our entire kitchen had to be renovated, from floor to ceiling. The Platinum Home Builders staff visited us, listened to our needs, and presented us with options. Though it meant a reduced price, he gave us guidance about what would fit in our space. The responsiveness of Platinum Home Builders was one of the things that really set them apart. Eileen, our project manager, was fast to react to our questions. It makes a significant difference â we had not even felt that we were just another project; they treated us as if we were their only client."

"My wood balcony has termites and water damages. So I hired RET to do the job. Kevin gave estimates and recommended composite planks for floor and red woods for railings. His workmanship was very professional and finished on time! On top of that, Kevin updated my balcony to the latest building codes. His price is very reasonable. If you want cheap prices and lousy jobs, hire someone else! Highly recommended!"

"Had our roof replaced by the awesome team with Nathan behind the wheel. Very professional and no hidden costs, upgrades, etc. Very timely and up to standards. I cannot recommend them enough to anybody needing anything. In fact, we will be reaching out for future improvements on our small bungalow in LA. Also, be assured that they are not some "new to the game" company as there are a lot of them."

"We are so glad we chose Coastal Kitchens and Baths Inc. for our remodeling project. They did such a great job on our master bath, guest bath, and the flooring throughout our house. The luxury vinyl looks amazing and completely transformed our home. John was very hands-on and made sure everything was completed with attention to detail. I could even text him late in the evening—sometimes around 9:30—and he would respond right away. That level of communication and dedication made the whole process smooth and stress-free. We are extremely happy with the results and would definitely use Coastal Kitchens and Baths Inc. again."

FAQs for addition to existing structure building service projects in Huntington Beach, CA

You can typically raise your roof by four to eight feet, depending on your home's structure and roof design. The exact amount depends on factors like roof slope and framing support. Raising the roof creates additional interior space, enhances natural light, and increases your home's value. Consult a professional to determine the feasible height increase for your home.

Yes, you need a building permit to raise your roof. Obtaining a building permit ensures your project complies with local building codes and safety regulations. A professional contractor can assist with the permit and inspection process and ensure all legal and safety requirements are met. Your contractor will be familiar with building codes in your area, which can differ between cities or states.

While it's possible to raise a flat roof, it requires extensive structural modifications. Flat roofs lack the attic space and support structures of pitched roofs, so raising them involves significant engineering to ensure safety and durability. This process can be complex and costly, so professional assessment is essential before undertaking a project of this magnitude.
