They had a great price, this was one of the most respectful crew of guys I have ever had work at my house and the patio turned out even BETTER than I imagined! Whenever people come over they comment on the quality of our concrete patio. Amazing! Thank you Legacy! 5 stars! Can I do 10 stars actually? :)"

"The project (concrete patio, new fence, and new gutters) turned out great. Gabe and his crew were polite and friendly. The project started when promised, was done early, and had no surprise costs. We will call again with our next project."

"I had called several landscapers to give me suggestions and prices for correcting a drainage problem I was having in my yard. I had decided that I'd also like to add a patio at the same time. Scott was one of five that I had called, and only one of three to have made time to come and talk with me. He was prompt and professional, with good, solid information on what he could do. He followed up our meeting with accurate estimates and came a second time with photos and color charts for me to look at. When it came time for the actual work, we set up a time and they even showed up early. The work was exactly what I wanted, and even though I didn't give him a real clear picture of the patio I'd hoped for, it is more than I'd even imagined. His crew was professional and got an okay from me for anything that varied from the original plan. I have to say, they really are great at what they do, and their experience shows. I LOVE my new patio!! I would not hesitate to use them again."

"We had JC Masonry replace our fireplace. Cathi was great at responding promply. Joey was meticulous about his work, and did a great job! Working with them was like working with family. I wish I could attach pictures, because the end result was unbelieveable! I would definitely recommend them! In fact, I plan on using them again this summer to replace several retaining walls. Just good people!"

"Replaced an old wooden deck with a concrete patio. We got a handful of quotes and the only one cheaper than Affordable had bad reviews. Affordable was significantly cheaper than the other highly reviewed places so we decided to save the money since most of the reviews on here were very positive. Robert was very responsive and even gave us the suggestion to put our old deck on Craig's List where we got rid of it without having to pay for demo saving us even more money. Estimated start date was given about 5-6 weeks from contract which was accurate. The deck was removed about a month before construction and after it was demoed, we informed them of some rot with the siding and a few other minors concerns we had (tree roots, old small concrete pad, drainage, etc). I couldn't see how bad the rot was due to the old concrete pad/step being there and we had a siding guy come by who suggested we remove the remaining siding around the step and put a piece of flash down behind the new concrete step up against the house so I mentioned this to Robert to make sure I would have time to do this after demo and before new concrete was poured. They showed up on time early in the morning both days. Day 1 (Thursday) was prep which included old concrete demo, framing, and digging of drainage pipe from the house under the sidewalk. The drain was an additional $150 and no other issues were brought up before or after the prep which was done by lunch (we were at work and not there during process). After we got home, the step framed had already been attached to the house and I was unable to attach the flash to the house. I called and was told that the rot shouldn't be an issue. I'm not an expert so I'll assume that was okay until the siding guy comes back out next week. We once again brought up the siding/rot issue on day 2 (Friday) when the concrete arrived but again told it should be no concern. The concrete was done by mid morning and everything looks good. I only know what I've read about concrete so I'll assume everything is quality until something over time tells me otherwise. We were not contacted at any point through the process to question or validate anything. I bring this up because a sprinkler hose was disconnected and now has to be laid over the concrete, a cover on an outdoor outlet was broken off without mention, and a couple of brand new boards I had bought for a fence (worth $25) where taken and they were clearly laid behind another fence panel well out of the way. I did call about this but nothing and feel it's not worth the effort to pursue further. To summarize:and gt; The price, punctuality, and responsiveness were greatand gt; Quality is fine as far as I can telland gt; The only real issue I had was that it was clear that once they got here this was a business project that had a set schedule and didn't get the feeling that our best interests were taken into account. I understand that a business, especially one dealing with home projects needs to run on a set schedule to maintain profitability but the drain ditch was done extremely poorly and the post project cleanup was less than desired. I had to walk around picking up at least 30 nails and remove maybe 60-80 lbs of left over materials from the demo/construction. It would have been nice to have been told about the broken outlet cover and asked about the sprinkler connection and fence boards."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Idaho Springs, CO

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
