"Doug Hambel was the fifth plumber that I called.  One cancelled on me the day before the installation, two never called me back and one said it would be four weeks before they could get out.  Someone from Doug Hambel came out quickly to look at the job so they could quote it.  It took a couple of weeks before they gave me a quote.  I was about to give up on them when they called with a reasonable quote, less than the first quote when the plumber cancelled.  I was very happy when they scheduled the job two working days after I accepted the quote.  Three very professional men came out exactly on time.  When they unpacked the tub they noticed a small scratch.  One gentleman took the tub back to the warehouse and quickly came back with a tub while the other two continued working.  They installed the tub quickly and professionally and left the bathroom as clean as when they arrived.  I couldn't imagine a better experience."

"We really like the plumber. My husband does the plumbing problems. The plumber's name is Jacob Stiffler. The kinds of things he has done for us, if we had emergencies, like if we are stuck with something that we can't fix ourselves, he can take care of that. He has also installed fixtures like when we get new faucets and that kind of thing we get him to do it. We would trust him with anything. If there is something that makes us uncomfortable we call him and we would recommend him to our friend. It is just that we have been lucky and in recent memory we haven't needed him for an emergency. Most of the last couple of visits has been to put in new faucets or something like that. That's exactly the best way to use a plumber. I would give him all 'A's across the board. If we needed a plumber we would call him first."

"I've used their service three times. The service they provide can't be beat. The first time I used them was after hurricane Irma when my pump head (I think that's what it was called) stopped working and the house started to flood. The septic water was not being sucked out the septic tank into the drain field causing sewage/water to build up and back up into our house. They came out the same day and figured out the problem and since the part I needed would not be available until the next day (Saturday) they pumped out the the septic tank given us the ability to use our water without it flooding for the night since by pumping out the septic tank it would have more space available to store waste. The next day they came out and installed a new pump. Everything worked perfectly thereafter. The second time they came out was because our water was backing up again which was about a year later. We were concerned since we just had the pump fixed. They came out the same day to access the problem; come to find out the switch to the pump had been accidently knocked into the off possition - probably by the lawn guys we hired. So he flipped back the switch and it started pumping and everything was well. We did feel a little silly. But everytime they respond to our calls we learn something new about having a septic tank. (By the way we are first time home buyers.) The next time they came out we had another leak which we later found out had nothing to do with the septic tank and the plumber who came out quickly isolated the problem. This time it was due to a leak in our shower from someone who had recently remolded our bathroom. They didn't even charge us the third time because they never had to dig which was a relief! So this time we got insurance involved and got our bathroom repaired, we needed a new shower pan liner, and now we are hopefully done with leaks. Ooh the joys of buying a new/old house. I am very grateful for Rooter One they are the best!!! I will always hire them for my plumbing needs and septic pump out. Love Love ❤️ their team."

"<p>They had done work at my neighbors house, reworking a 55 year old bathroom. I called them to estimate the cost of replacing the remaining cast iron pipe running under the garage floor and to the street. Additionally, asked them to put in a fresh water storm drain to alleviate flooding in the garage. </p> After they called the county to mark the line, Mike came by to estimate the job. To replace the line to the street came in at $3000 including the storm drain. We agreed and set a date for work to commence. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />They arrived on the scheduled day and began work. Right away, they discovered that the existing line from the street was PVC. So all that needed replacing was the cast iron under the driveway. Having replaced the interior drain lines, I knew that there was an 'S' turn in the existing line (2 90's) with a coupling from new PVC to old cast iron. They sawed through the garage floor concrete, put in a new straight PVC line from the interior coupling to the street PVC. They repaired the concrete, removed all the dirt and cleaned the garage floor. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />They removed concrete from my sidewalk, dug a new trench for the freshwater drain line, installed the drain and 5and quot; PVC, repaired sidewalk while shaping the new concrete to a gentle slope. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />They reduced the cost from $3000 to $2250 to account for the existing PVC. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />In all, I'm very happy with the work they did. The workmen were friendly and very knowledgeable. <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Indialantic, FL

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
