"Wow! I can't say enough positive things about the roofing services provided by Aloha Construction. Trevor Peterson handled nearly everything, making the entire process stress free (working around my schedule, dropping off roofing samples at my work, assessing my roof on short notice and handling EVERYTHING). From start to finish, they exceeded my expectations and delivered outstanding results. First and foremost, the customer service was impeccable. The entire team was friendly, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure my satisfaction. They took the time to listen to my concerns, answer all my questions, and provide expert advice. The quality of their workmanship was truly top-notch. The roofing crew was punctual, skilled, and efficient. They completed the project in a timely manner without compromising on the attention to detail. The end result was a beautifully installed roof that not only enhances the curb appeal of my home but also provides excellent protection. What impressed me the most was their commitment to transparency and integrity. They provided a detailed and fair estimate, and there were no hidden costs or surprises along the way. They also kept me informed throughout the entire process, updating me on the progress and addressing any issues promptly. I highly recommend Aloha Construction to anyone in need of roofing services. Their exceptional customer service, superior workmanship, and overall professionalism make them stand out from the rest. I am extremely satisfied with their work and will definitely turn to them for any future roofing needs."

"We hired Borrelli Homes, Inc to be the general contractor on our new dream home. We couldn't be happier with our choice. Our house was completed ahead of schedule in less than 6 months. The scope of the work included land clearing, site prep, and turn-key construction of the house and garage. Phill Borrelli had personal charge over the entire building process. He made great suggestions such as architect choices to get our project moving even before we committed to hiring him for our build. He promptly returned all our calls throughout the entire building process. Phill's workers and subcontractors all did great quality work and were courteous and pleasant to be around. Phill demonstrated a good sense of style and we sought out his opinions on many aspects of the house and finish. Phill builds houses with a high level of quality and style and includes many nice touches that we didn't expect. Any issues that came up were promptly rectified and we were always kept in the loop on the progress of the house. This house is the seventh house that our family has built, but the last house was built in 1989. In all the previous builds, we did the contracting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc. ourselves so we were apprehensive in putting our fate in the hands of a general contractor, but we recognized that our building experience was out of date. We found Borrelli Homes, Inc. on Angie's List and we are so pleased that we did. We can't think of anyway that we could have had a better experience of building our dream house. <br />"

"The guy that they sent off to do the work was not very knowledgeable. I had the work done before so I knew what was supposed to be done. I actually told him how to do the baseline. It ended up coming out alright. I have another company do it a little cheaper but they don't do our area anymore. They're on time in everything. I would probably not use them in the future."

"Les Glover does and did everything. He replaced the bathroom medicine cabinet and sink with cabinet. He installed a new steel front door with all wood trim. Les replaced and repaired the siding on the house and garage. He repaired he soffit around the house. Les also painted the entire house and garage once all wood and siding was replaced or repaired. Les took care of many small details on his own, not needing to be told what to do. If something was not to his liking, he worked on it until it was. Les is very conscientious and is extremely reliable, not to mention that he is a very pleasant person to deal with. Even neighbors commented on his work ethic and abilities. The house looks brand new is now for sale."

"Sam worked in some of the worst weather of the winter and did everything it took to get the building up.  The scope of the project increased from the time he quoted but he was fair in his requests for additional costs. <br />"

"Excellent job. Worked closely with us to detail what we wanted, offered good advice on design/materials and came up with final design based on our conversations. The quality of work was excellent, and very professional. There was a bit of delay because cabinets were delayed, but otherwise progress was as expected.  The final bathrooms are gorgeous, and the linen cabinets transformed the second floor."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Iroquois, IL

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
