His company came in with the lowest estimate, and John was patient in explaining the process, shingle options, along with providing samples and explaining the warranty. These guys do good work, and don't take you to the cleaners along the way. While repairing my roof, 7 sheets of plywood and 122' of 2x4 were needed to replace the damaged areas of my roof. There was no extra charge for the time and material, he replaced this at at his cost, honoring the initial quote he gave me. What a gentleman and a scholar. The workers were courteous and all very hard workers. They arrived on time, cleaning up thoroughly before they left. They were able to knock my roof out in one day and didn't want a penny until it passed final inspection. They even provide a free wind mitigation report for the insurance company. Top notch company. My neighbor was so impressed by how good it looks, and how fast they knocked it out they called him too. I definitely recommend John Scott Roofing, and will use him for all my future needs. Marshall was different than the other roofing companies, who either stopped showing interest in me as a customer the minute there was not an opportunity to replace my entire roof and bill my insurance company, or did not return calls or messages. I had some roof shingles that blew off due to high winds and poor installation by the original roofing company. Both the father and son Ben stopped by within 24 hours of me reaching out, repaired the roof and inspected the rest of the roof for issues that I may not have been able to see from the ground. "I am not a roof professional. I am a home owner who understands nothing last forever; so, I desired to seek an diagnosis (evaluation), repair and proper upkeep type of roof servicing. My roofs were not leaking but were aged. I scheduled three different roof service companies, from HomeAdvisor, for my roofing needs. I hoped they - as the roof professionals - would tell me (1) what I did not know nor cannot see as problem areas of my roofs, (2) what roof problems, if any, need to be addressed, and (3) the cost for them to do the work. John Boyd did provide me with 1, 2 and 3. However John Boyd 's price was higher than the company I hired. Also, John Boyd failed to identified an additional roof - i.e., that ledge over my home's second story windows - in their examination. Honestly, I did not even think about it, but the company I did hire brought it to my attention with photos. Also, the hired company's price to service three roofs and gutters (house, front and back porch) plus the overlooked ledge roof was less than John Boyd's price for three roofs and two gutters. [I gave John Boyd a three out of five stars rating only because HomeAdvisor's survey does not allow you not to star rate a company you did not hire. I believe this default setting needs to change. John Boyd did not do any work for me so I did not desire to star-rate the company.]"
