"I had an excellent experience working with Jose and his team on a number of home improvement / repair projects: sink / vanity installation, toilet installation, faucet installation. He was responsive and respectful throughout the whole process and helped provide me with a number of different options to address various issues that came up along the way. His team was professional on the job and and did excellent work on the project. I’d highly recommend his company for home improvement solutions"

"Max construction was amazing! I interviewed several contractors who I didn't feel confident with or who were too busy at the time of construction. From the beginning of the consultation, Max was an absolute professional. He came in took pictures did measurement and came with great design suggestions to the table. Max was available to start work much sooner than I anticipate he could which was great. Once work started I was introduced to everyone working on my project one by one which was a great touch in professionalism. The team worked extremely fast. The exterior work was completed within a week. Professional local lumber company delivered the wood and work started the same day. When interior work started. the hope for a pocket door had to be changed because a pipe (that wasn't detectable) was in the way. Max changed the order to a single door that fit perfectly and his team even handled the adjustment to the plumbing at no additional cost! I had the floors in the bathroom done by another company earlier in the year who didn't finish their work. They didn't shave down a door so it didn't scrape the floor, they didn't reinstall the door saddle and the door when reinstalled wasn't set properly. Max's team resolved these minor issues at no additional cost. Once the Laundry room door was installed and the opening to the former bathroom was closed off, the team noticed I had new shelves I was going to install after I painted. They removed the old cabinet I planned to take down at no additional cost. I can't say enough about this team sticking to their quote. Max never changed or attempted to change his original quote at any time during the process when I am certain other contractors would have used the opportunity to squeeze out additional money. The work was flawless and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of work, timing, and most of all cost once all the work was done."

FAQs for doors (interior) installation and replacement projects in Ivoryton, CT

If your existing frame is in good shape, you can replace an interior door without changing the frame. This is a budget-friendly option because it saves on the cost of removing and installing a new frame. By choosing a slab door that fits your current frame, you'll save on labor and materials. Just make sure the new door matches the old one's dimensions for a smooth replacement.

Standard interior doors are 80 inches tall and range from 28 to 32 inches wide. Interior doors vary from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on their purpose and the available space. Building codes require interior doors to be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Knowing standard sizes helps you select a new door that fits properly in your existing opening.

It costs $600 to $2,000 or more to move an inside door. The total price depends on your location, the type of door, and materials needed to complete the project. Moving an interior door requires walling up the leftover space and opening up a new wall where you want the door to go instead. You’ll also want to plan for the expense of framing the new wall opening and adding trim.

Exterior door installation costs an average of $1,175, with a typical range of $525 to $1,800. The higher expense compared to the cost of interior doors comes from the need for exterior doors to be weather-proofed and they are often made of thicker, more durable materials. The associated exterior hardware must also be able to withstand harsh weather, so these cost more as well.

It costs between $300 to $2,500 to make a doorway wider on average. However, the wider you need the space to be, the more it will cost. Some homeowners choose to widen interior doorways to make the house more wheelchair accessible. In order to be wheelchair accessible, an interior door needs to be at least 32 to 36 inches wide. Also, some older homes just have narrow doorways due to the nature of how homes were built differently many decades ago.

It takes between two to five hours for a professional door installer to install an interior door, depending on complexity and materials. A pre-hung door typically takes around two hours, and larger doors like double French doors can take up to five hours. If you’re doing the project yourself, expect it to take a little longer than that, especially if you have little to no experience completing this type of project. Keep in mind that a pre-hung door can be installed about an hour or two faster than a slab door.
