DENNINGTONS FLOOR REPAIR

"We recently had foundation repair work--39 pilings, eight of which were interior to the house. The interior pilings required pulling up carpet, and the foundation company said we would need to call someone to have the carpet re-seated correctly. <br /> We called Mr. Dennington late on a Friday afternoon after foundation company completed their work. We were excited when he indicated he could drop by at 8am the following Monday. He explained that he will estimate the cost of the work, and would be ready to perform that work on the same visit, if we found the estimate acceptable. <br /> On Monday, Mr. Dennington arrived 10 minutes early. About half the house's carpet had been pulled up, and Mr. Dennington gave us an estimate of $400 to stretch and re-seat the carpet. It took him about three hours to do the work. <br /> Things we really liked about him: <br /> * Pleasant, yet professional <br /> * Cleaned as he went (not only picked up trash in garbage bag, but vacuumed the carpet as the work area was cleared!) <br /> * The finished work looks really, really good (as if we just had new carpet installed) <br /> The work done was absolutely superb! The carpet seams are completely invisible. The carpet has a nice stretched, 'freshly laid' look. We will most certainly do business with Mr. Dennington again, should the need arise. <br />"

"I purchased the hardwood laminate shortly after closing on my house, with the hopes of my husband installing over the weekends. This was rather ambitious considering that we were trying to renovate several other areas of the house.  After seeing that my poor husband would not have time to do everything, I started looking to outsource the floor installation. <br /> First, I turned to Craigslist. That was a joke. The first person I contacted quoted me $3500 for 4 rooms - and keep in mind, I had already purchased the flooring!  The second person I contacted on Craigslist cancelled our first meeting and then didn't show to our second to provide an estimate.  <br /> I got on Angie's List and found Carpet Designs (they had all As). I sent an internet inquiry on Wednesday evening, and on Thursday morning recieved a call. Thursday afternoon, Dwayne showed up and gave me an estimate of $2200. I was SO impressed with him that when I called to get them to start working, I added the hallway and the living room to the list of rooms where flooring could be put down.  <br /> Carpet Designs went straight to work and finished ahead of schedule. Dwayne took my call (and texts) - and he knew exactly what was going on in my house and was friendly when I had questions or requests. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I will use them for any flooring needs that I have in the future.  <br /> <br />"

"Moore's Carpet Care arrived at my house on time to clean the carpet in my home.  They inspected the carpet and provided an estimate prior to starting the job.  I agreed to the terms; therefore, they began the work.  There were some areas that were heavily stained and they were able to remove the stains.  I was very pleased with the company, and I plan on using them in the future. <br />"

"Everything was excellent. The estimator and installers both showed up within 5 minutes of their scheduled time. All were very friendly and professional. The work was excellent. I could not be more pleased. I will be using them again in a few months on another house."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Jackson, MS

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
