"I’ve now how my sod for a year and a half and I am CONSTANTLY having lawn issues. I’ve had lawn pro after lawn pro come out and all tell me the same thing, “whoever installed your sod didn’t do a good job, the sod is of very poor quality”. I spent over $10k for my landscape job with this company and wanted to have the best lawn in the neighborhood. Instead I have constant problems and have spend lots of $$$ trying to fix THEIR MISTAKES. Stay away from C&L Landscaping."

"I built my dock and lift in 1999. The cable broke on the lift last month. I had then come and give me a quote, got two other compeditive quotes from others. They just struck me as the right people to do the job, and they had done work for my parents on their dock before. He sent two men out, they restrung the lift, got it perfectly level and put new bunkers and a walkway on my cradle. I am so happy with the price and the work. So professional, you cannot find better service and also communication throughout the estimate, hire and job performance. Awesome people, awesome company. Here are pictures, the first shows the boat in it's new lift with SS cables, oh my. The second shows the boat really unhappy in the water with a broken lift. Awesome work!"

"I am submitting this complaint due to unsafe and substandard workmanship performed by this company. The work was not completed to industry standards and has resulted in multiple structural and safety issues. Our yard was left with sinkholes, and a deck was constructed over dirt that was never compacted. The retaining wall is leaking because the vinyl was cut too short and then covered by installing additional pieces in front. The concrete cap is already cracked and was formed incorrectly because the crew failed to stop and replace a broken 2x4 used in the form. The pilings are crooked, the dock is not square with the floater, and the aluminum gangway does not meet code or industry standards. Due to safety concerns and leaning pilings, we have been unable to use our boat lift. The owner promotes hiring individuals in sobriety, which is commendable; however, workers were inexperienced, unsupervised, and in some cases freshly out of rehab while in active addiction. Customers say: Quick response

"They surveyed the area and let me know the cost the next day. They even had to remove a lot of roots and stumps but didn't let that stop them. My wall wasn't on even ground, so they had to build it like a terrace. I am satisfied with their work. They even put weep holes in it for drainage, so wall doesn't build up against the wall over a period of time. Work is even guaranteed. I approve of this company. Allan was flexible on what I wanted done."

"CB completed a full landscaping project for us on a new build including design and installation of plants, trees, mulch, grass, decorative stone and a retaining wall around the patio. The team is highly professional, friendly, timely and cleaned up nightly. They also coordinated well with our concrete and irrigation contractors. We received many compliments on the project. The team returned to re-seed a few areas after heavy rains washed out a portion of our newly seeded lawn. Great people to deal with.""

FAQs for water dock building service projects in Jacksonville, FL

With the right design and maintenance, a vinyl sea wall capped with concrete can serve you for 50 to 70 years, while poured-concrete walls last 50 to 60 years. Steel or aluminum options last 30 to 40 years, and treated wood holds up for 10 to 25 years. Plan on regular inspections and prompt repairs to keep any sea wall performing at its best for decades.

A bulkhead holds back soil in calm, inland waters, while a sea wall is built for pounding coastal waves. The sea wall’s job is to absorb and deflect wave energy, offering stronger erosion control. A bulkhead mainly keeps soil in place but isn’t designed to stand up to heavy surf.

A sea wall needs a deep footing—four to 10 feet or more—so it can resist shifting soils and constant wave pressure. The exact depth depends on your soil conditions, water depth, chosen material, and local building codes. Your marine contractor may dig even deeper to secure the wall in place and meet the structural specifications.

Plan on a quick visual check every season. Look for cracks, loose panels, or washed-out soil, clear weep holes so water can drain, and trim plants that push against the wall. Catching small issues early helps maintain the structure's soundness and prevents major repair bills later. Your sea wall builder can make recommendations for an ongoing maintenance plan that will help keep your sea wall in optimal condition.

Most residential sea walls are completed in an average of one to three weeks, covering preparation work, sheet piling, and cleanup. Larger commercial walls require additional engineering and can extend well beyond that window. Your crew drives steel or vinyl sheets into the soil, then finishes caps, tie-backs, and grading before final inspection.

The “best” wall is the one engineered for your site, but concrete often tops the list for pure strength and longevity. It anchors soil, blocks water, and handles repeated wave hits better than wood or light-gauge steel. Collaborate with a marine contractor to determine the ideal material for your shoreline and budget.
