"AJ was awesome. I needed a deck foundation built for a resin shed I am planning to put on top of it. AJ did everything I asked for and more. He had ideas that were above and beyond the original scope of work and implemented them. He was easy to work with and straight forward in his communication. He came by to give an estimate, three days later the job was complete. Thanks for everything AJ!"

"BEST CONTRACTOR EVER! The project included an exterior ramp, 1st fl laundry & 1/2 bath near the kitchen. I needed the ramp done 1st for an elderly person being released from physical rehab in under a wk. He worked very hard through the worst days of the smoke from the Canada forest fires. He understood ADA requirements and built accordingly. Plus, he suggested things I hadn't thought of like widening the mudroom doorway for a wheel chair if needed in the future & raising the mudroom floor just a little to keep it level with the kitchen floor. The ramp is very sturdy. The senior is using it with great confidence. The interior revamp went very well & was just what our senior needed. Not only did he have the project done in a timely manner, but while walking through Lowes he noticed a stackable washer & dryer 20% off, unopened box. He texted me & we grabbed it! Dave not only knows the construction business but goes above & beyond what's needed and he has a good heart."

"Wayne was the first to respond to a request for estimating repair of my enclosed porch. The walls had deteriorated over time and one had blown in during a winter storm. He suggested that I replace the walls with an open railing porch, which was a huge cost savings. After I gave him a deposit, he came with his crew the following week and completed the tear-down and build in less than a day. I couldn't be more pleased; my neighbors and friends have commented on how nice the new porch looks, and adds to the appearance of the house and property. Wayne is quick, efficient and affordable. I would recommend him."

"The project was contracted in early November 2016 with a start date of Mid January 2017. The contracted completion date was March 1, 2017. The project actually began on February 2, 2017 and was completed on April 1, 2017. The quality of work was good with some exceptions like the painting of the walls and their hooking up the ice make to the hot water line. This was after the water and sewer lines were relocated. I also had to have them install an air back flow valve on the sewer line after they had completed the install of the sink. The company owner came out to inspect the project only twice and each time to collect a construction payment. We are still waiting for three replacement cabinet doors that were warped when installed. It has been two months. I guess we will have to push for the replacements. Overall, we are happy with our new kitchen but I feel we had to get more personally involved with the project than necessary given we hired a General Contractor. An example was locating a quality granite company that supplied quality granite counter tops at a very reasonable price. Here again the General Contractor did not coordinate with that company in a timely manner which resulted in taking a month to measure, cut and install the counter tops. I personally told the General Contractor the lead time requirements late in November 2016 after locating the granite company."

FAQs for water dock building service projects in Cleveland, OH

With the right design and maintenance, a vinyl sea wall capped with concrete can serve you for 50 to 70 years, while poured-concrete walls last 50 to 60 years. Steel or aluminum options last 30 to 40 years, and treated wood holds up for 10 to 25 years. Plan on regular inspections and prompt repairs to keep any sea wall performing at its best for decades.

A bulkhead holds back soil in calm, inland waters, while a sea wall is built for pounding coastal waves. The sea wall’s job is to absorb and deflect wave energy, offering stronger erosion control. A bulkhead mainly keeps soil in place but isn’t designed to stand up to heavy surf.

A sea wall needs a deep footing—four to 10 feet or more—so it can resist shifting soils and constant wave pressure. The exact depth depends on your soil conditions, water depth, chosen material, and local building codes. Your marine contractor may dig even deeper to secure the wall in place and meet the structural specifications.

Plan on a quick visual check every season. Look for cracks, loose panels, or washed-out soil, clear weep holes so water can drain, and trim plants that push against the wall. Catching small issues early helps maintain the structure's soundness and prevents major repair bills later. Your sea wall builder can make recommendations for an ongoing maintenance plan that will help keep your sea wall in optimal condition.

Most residential sea walls are completed in an average of one to three weeks, covering preparation work, sheet piling, and cleanup. Larger commercial walls require additional engineering and can extend well beyond that window. Your crew drives steel or vinyl sheets into the soil, then finishes caps, tie-backs, and grading before final inspection.

The “best” wall is the one engineered for your site, but concrete often tops the list for pure strength and longevity. It anchors soil, blocks water, and handles repeated wave hits better than wood or light-gauge steel. Collaborate with a marine contractor to determine the ideal material for your shoreline and budget.
