"When I called to set up the appointment I was walked through the process and was given an accurate and cost-saving estimate. This was Monday and I said I was having company on Friday They were able to come the next morning! The arrival time was set for 9am-noon, and I received a call around 9:10 that the two-man team was on their way from a neighboring town. The guys were very nice and professional. We walked thru the house and they took note of everything and asked questions about moving certain items. I'd removed all knick knacks from surfaces and put away floor items (baskets, floor lamps, small tables, humidifier, etc) before they arrived and they we happy about that. One man prepared the area to be cleaned while the second man followed behind with the extractor. They asked permission before hooking up to the outdoor faucet, and wore shoe protection while they worked. They suggested I wear a rubber soled shoe to walk on the damp carpet and warned me to be careful stepping off the carpet onto tile. Carpets look and smell fantastic! Great job!"

"<strong>These people are amazing!!</strong>  We did shop around  and found a carpet that we felt was going to be just great for the room. We brought a sample (from another store) with us to McCann's  and asked if they carried the same carpet. Jan said they did and also showed us a variety of other samples that may interest us. We kept going back to the original sample and asked for quotation. Jan gave us a ball park number based on a square yard figure we gave her. She then suggested that they come out and measure to give a firm number. They were very prompt  getting out to the house and in putting together the proposal.  <br />     We found that their price was considerably less then one store ,and less then the other store. We felt very comfortable working with Jan, Amy and the rest of the staff due to their patience, product knowledge and friendly "can Do" attitude. <br />     Here is the other " <strong>Amazing Part</strong>"...........The carpet( We picked out,) was installed and( through no fault on McCann's part) we both were not happy with the way it looked. But we thought,"it will grow on us" as we didn't think there would be any alternative.  <br />     I went in to pay for the carpet and Amy asked me how I liked it. I said we were not real happy with the way it looked. She said " we want you to love your carpet and to pick out something else. There was a 30 day satisfaction guarantee on the carpet from the Mfg'r., but also, she said they would handle the reinstallation and also move any furniture.  <br /> To the point: The new carpet is wonderful, the installer did a super job and went way beyond as well, in moving furniture back in place. If you need new floor coverings, check out other stores if you must, but visit McCann flooring. I know you won't go wrong . <br /> Thank you Amy, Jan and staff <br /> <br /> Richard and Sharon "

"From start to finish, each person I dealt with was friendly, helpful, and most importantly, knowledgeable. There was no pressure to buy. The salesmen helped me make an informed decision. ( Choosing the right brand of carpet was overwhelming at first.) They knew a tremendous amount about the materials they were selling, and only appeared to sell the best quality carpets and flooring. When ready to buy, they worked with my schedule. They even allowed me to paint the floors with BINS in between taking out the old carpets and installing the new ones. The installers were friendly, worked fast, and were on time. It was obvious that they were well practiced at installing carpets. There prices were competitive. I paid exactly what they quoted me for. There were no hidden costs. The carpets look great in my home. I was very pleased with the job they did."

"Quite messy with their tools left all over the place. Other rooms were not sealed off to protect from sawdust mess. Much of the tape I purchased for painting projects was used to put plastic on kitchen cabinets. Was told the new base trim would be 4 1/2" high, and it is actually under 3" - should have gotten every detail in writing. There is stain on painted trim that was not replaced, had poly drips on my counter tops, caulk was smeared on new floors and not cleaned properly. Bottom line, we're very pleased with our new floors, but the finishing work left much to be desired. Just a couple more hours of his time and more attention to detail and we would have been very happy clients."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Janesville, WI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
