"I had recently purchased an older home that needed carpet. It wasn't in my budget to order carpet for the entire house at once, so I thought I would just do the main living area first. I googled carpet in Anchorage, Ak and Super Floors was one of the ones at the top. I went ahead and looked over their website, they seemed legit so I stopped in one night on my way home from work. They stock a carpet there in multiple shades of beige and in three grades - good, better, best. The only difference really was how thick./plush they were. I was able to do BOTH floors of my house with installation for a very good price. I had gotten a bid from the Home Depot, and Super Floors came in much lower, so much so that I was able to do the whole thing at once. Also they have financing available through Wells Fargo which also helped me do it all at once. Everyone at the store seemed very friendly and like they knew what they were talking about. The installers that they sent did a great job, I was happy that they vaccumed their way out and didnt leave the "fuzz" everywhere that I was dreading. My salesman told me upfront that they required a 50% deposit and the balance was due after the installation was complete, since I financed I didnt have to deal with this but I thought it was important to include in my review. I recently got new countertops from a different company (which I will be reviewing shortly) and I had to pay for the entire thing upfront. What else can I say about them? The showroom looked great and they had a lot of in stock options and I was able to schedule an install for the same week I picked out my carpet. The box store I mentioned earlier couldnt get me scheduled for 2-3 weeks, that also swayed my opinion. The only thing I will say is that I pass this place everyday (they are between Dowling and Dimond on Homer Drive) if you take the 76th exit you will notice them immediately, I drove by this place on my way home for years and didnt notice it was their. Well worth the effort in tracking them down. I wont got anywhere else for floors! <br />"

"Nate is amazing, his attention to detail and honesty are the best thing about him. He treated our job as if he was doing the install in his own home. He is was punctual and a very hard worker. He also had a very easy going personality which made him a pleasure to work with. I would use him again for any other future flooring projects as well as recommend him to any friend or family member <br />"

"We arrived in Anchorage to discover our rental property required a full, but completely unexpected, remodel.  Needless to say, budget was a factor. <br /> Jamie Tamanaha promptly came out to our house to measure cabinets and countertops for the kitchen and two baths. Even though this was measured right before a holiday weekend, we still met just a few days later at the Florcraft Carpet One showroom. Jamie had line drawings of the kitchen and baths plus a computer-aided design program showing us different cabinet configurations for our spaces. <br /> Jamie knew the product lines extremely well. He demonstrated the different models' features, gave us pros and cons, informed us how well the different models would last/wear, and provided their warranty information. Jamie offered solutions to maximize cabinet space, usefulness, and convenience. Jamie was extremely efficient and professional. He answered all of our questions and there was never any upsell pressure. <br /> We went with the gorgeous Bellmont 1900 series cabinets and the beautifully durable Staron countertops. Bellmont cabinets are US made. We especially liked their "soft close" feature and "green certification". Staron countertops look good and are easily repaired. Since this was for a rental property, that was doubly important. Even though there was a six-to-eight week lead time, they arrived a little early. <br /> Florcraft Carpet One worked with us and our schedule. We were even able to remain in the house while the work was being performed! Jamie and the Florcraft Carpet One team provided exceptional service and support. They have our gratitude and highest recommendation. <br />"

"Advanced Flooring Solutions was the most professional company that we've seen in years! The men showed up earlier than expected, but knowing they were, they called ahead to make sure it was okay. Every employee we encountered were very polite. The men even cleaned up their messes during installation and when they were finished installing the carpet. They requested that we go up and look at the finished product and let them know if there was any issues. We also had a follow up call from the owner asking how they did. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to everyone we know!"

"<p>Not so great.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> If you want blue tarp, trailer park workmanship, give them a call.<br /> <br /><br /> <br /><br /> <br /> If you want good as new craftsmanship, call a real professional.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />They arrived an hour late, at least they called at the scheduled time to notify me of their late arrival.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /></p> The ceiling repair has an obvious lump in it. The wall repair has a ripple in the corner, and they left the texture uneven and tool imprints. I had to make them install the trim properly and clean up, still, they left trash in my garage. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> After 5 hours of baby sitting them, I just wanted them to leave. <br />"

"A heater turned over and it burned some part of the carpet, and they did a really good job, I could not even see the stains or anything, I was scared, but they just came in and cut out the burned part and put a new one and had it covered. We had remnants of our original carpet, but I had to pay for the heating tape and labor."

"They were late in starting so had to come back the next day, but things generally went well. Looks nice. We thought we would be able to get a special order carpet within a week or so but then found it would take 5-8 weeks to order - misunderstood or were misled at our first visit - so went with one that was in stock. All in all, the place looks so much better than before so happy with the work."

"After the last tenants moved out, both the laminate flooring in a large part of a rental house I own and the carpeting in the bedrooms was, for all practical purposes, destroyed and had to be replaced. Based on good recommendations here on Angies List, we went by Big Bob's, picked out new laminate and carpet, and arranged to have the measurements done. Within a week, the old flooring was torn out and carted away, and the new flooring and carpet installed (two days of work). The installers were prompt, courteous and professional, both the flooring and the carpet were on sale, and the installation looks fabulous. I am very happy with their work! <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Anchorage, AK

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
