"My wife & I moved to Port Saint Lucie, FL two months ago and looked up 5 star rated plumbing companies to perform minor work in our home when we first arrived. She selected Genesis Plumbing Services as a result of reading all their 5 star reviews and the feedback from their customers. Ed Hickman was the licensed & insured member of the Genesis Plumbing team that came to our home previously and returned to our home to successfully complete our toilet replacement. Ed is very professional, courteous and focused on customer satisfaction. As additional background, Ed previously successfully installed a new water shutoff value that had broken off. He completed that quickly, efficiently and cared about the quality of the work he provided. This was confirmed when another company that does our AC work, saw our new water shutoff value that Ed installed and they said, "who ever did that installation is a true craftsman". They went on to say that everything was lined up, soldering joints cleanly done and the value is installed in the correct direction. They said this is excellent work! I told them Genesis Plumbing Services did the work and they said, that is an excellent company. Kudos to Ed Hickman for that excellent quality water value installation at hour home. Next, we had an original house toilet from the 1990's go bad and called Genesis Plumbing Services to get it checked and ultimately replaced. Ed said he would take that work order as he was already familiar with us and our house. We were notified by the Genesis office staff that our appointment was on Tuesday and Ed Hickman would do the work. My wife and I were very pleased that Ed was returning to our home to do this work. Ed came in and examined our toilet and explained in detail the problems he found and the potential cost for a replacement. He took the time to explain the details and listen to our questions. It was a reasonable quote, timeframe and we accepted it. Ed was punctual, as always, called before arriving and professional, courteous and always wants to do the job right the first time. He successfully completed the toilet replacement and throughout the replacement process showed us the problems he identified, explained what he was going to do to fix it and did exactly what he said he was going to do. The bottom line is that Ed Hickman did an excellent job replacing our toilet in a timely fashion and cleaned up, so that you would never know he did any work in our bathroom. Ed is an excellent team player working for Genesis Plumbing Services and should be recognized for his efforts. Genesis is an excellent company and we will be contacting them for our future plumbing needs. Keep up the great work!"

"I've used their service three times. The service they provide can't be beat. The first time I used them was after hurricane Irma when my pump head (I think that's what it was called) stopped working and the house started to flood. The septic water was not being sucked out the septic tank into the drain field causing sewage/water to build up and back up into our house. They came out the same day and figured out the problem and since the part I needed would not be available until the next day (Saturday) they pumped out the the septic tank given us the ability to use our water without it flooding for the night since by pumping out the septic tank it would have more space available to store waste. The next day they came out and installed a new pump. Everything worked perfectly thereafter. The second time they came out was because our water was backing up again which was about a year later. We were concerned since we just had the pump fixed. They came out the same day to access the problem; come to find out the switch to the pump had been accidently knocked into the off possition - probably by the lawn guys we hired. So he flipped back the switch and it started pumping and everything was well. We did feel a little silly. But everytime they respond to our calls we learn something new about having a septic tank. (By the way we are first time home buyers.) The next time they came out we had another leak which we later found out had nothing to do with the septic tank and the plumber who came out quickly isolated the problem. This time it was due to a leak in our shower from someone who had recently remolded our bathroom. They didn't even charge us the third time because they never had to dig which was a relief! So this time we got insurance involved and got our bathroom repaired, we needed a new shower pan liner, and now we are hopefully done with leaks. Ooh the joys of buying a new/old house. I am very grateful for Rooter One they are the best!!! I will always hire them for my plumbing needs and septic pump out. Love Love ❤️ their team."

"Appointment made quickly. We were contacted the same day we purchased tuneup special on Angie's List. Arrived on time and very professional. Made recommendation to replace a leaking inlet valve which we were expecting. A minor adjustment had to be made to one of the pipes but work was completed within short period of time with no mess. The repair was done in very close quarters. I would definitely recommend this company for plumbing needs. We would use again. <br />"

"The entire process went extremely well. They first sent a supervisor to estimate the extent of the problem and determine what equipment and how much equipment would be necessary. Within the same day, the men with the equipment showed up and took readings to determine any and every area that was affected by the water leaks from the roof, brought in fans and de-humidifiers and carefully set them up. They were very respectful of my property and took great care in setting up their equipment so as not to damage walls or furniture. They set up an incredible amount of equipment, explained what each piece did and addressed every concern I had including any possible liability with leaving the equpiment running while I was not at the house. The gentlemen that installed and subsequently removed the equipment were courteous, polite, well-organized and very efficient."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Jensen Beach, FL

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
