"As soon as I contacted them about a screened in porch, we arranged a date for an estimate. Ed acted promptly and after having 3 previous estimates I knew that EMZ was the team I was going to work with. Ed and Mike arrived the next week and started the construction. They worked hard and the standard of their work is outstanding. The porch and deck are now my pride and joy and look forward to spending a lot of time out there. I would definitely recommend the EMZ team which includes Melissa, who also kept me up to date with costs and a payment schedule. You will not be disappointed!!"

"I was very impressed with TJ and his professionalism, promptness, and quality of work .... so much so that I hired him for some additional jobs. He had not worked on Kiawah before but he handled all the complicated permitting, etc with patience and without complaining. His pricing is fair with no surprises. I would highly recommend"

Flooring
"These guys are great! Very committed to building a reputation on quality. They were skilled beyond their years. Our project was pretty large scale-included raising the entire subfloor, installing hardwood throughout our second floor, installing stair landings to match our stair treads. They moved furniture all over the house-to include helping with a couple new pieces-no upcharge. We paid what we agreed, with no hidden additions-they completed the work right on schedule-took about 3 1/2 days. Even dusted the furniture during cleanup. Take a chance on them for sure. We threw a lot of complexity at them and they handled with ease. Our install looks seamless with the rest of the wood installed during the initial build. I cannot say enough about them. 5 star rating is not high enough."

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
