"I employed the services of Radon Mitigation Master to run a radon test, install a radon mitigation system, and then retest. From start to finish, John and Ed were punctual, always communicated and kept the line of communication open for any questions I had. They conducted the install very quietly, clean, and efficiently. They then retested, and the system was able to reduce the radon by 90% plus. I would recommend RMM to any acquaintance, friend, or family member. Thank you John and Ed!"

"This was a fantastic, easy experience. I would highly recommend Tom's company for this work. We were partially moved in when ResCom came to our aid. The area where they needed to install was a mess, and they cleaned it up. It's a pleasure to work with companies who know what the job needs and they just do it. <br />"

"They were fantastic and we were absolutely trilled. He came when he said and did what he said he was going to do. The reduction and amount of radon in the basement was better than expected."

"Our fan went bad after 3 years. We had Certified Radon (original installers) come out to replace our fan. Something was not properly sealed and moisture trips the circuit. Now that fan trips the circuit breaker, my sump pump is on the same circuit. They will not come and fix their install problem for over a month. The only advice was to TURN OFF MY FAN for the 5 week wait, so that my sump pump will work. Disappointed."

"John, with Premier Inspection Services, showed up fifteen minutes early and was ready to go. His inspection was thorough and his approach to and execution of the inspection was the ultimate in professionalism. At the end of the inspection, he explained, in detail, the issues and action items, and told us that his inspection report would be sent to us, via E-mail, by 11:00 p.m. that same night. When I got up the next morning, I found his inspection report attached to an E-mail that was received at 10:58 p.m. Now, that's professional from start to finish!"

"We recently had the opportunity to hire and work with Jerrod Turnbow of J & K Property Inspections LLC when purchasing our home in Blue Springs MO. My wife and I were were extremely pleased with the process and the outcome of the inspection. Our realtor had recommended Jerrod to us. Jerrod was professional in demeanor but was also personable. He had the ability to explain technical aspects of our house to us in terms that we could not only understand but also appreciate the what and why. Jerrod was not an alarmist, but he was thorough. He clearly communicated each issue and gave his opinion as to the level of concern for each item. He uncovered several issues that we were totally unaware of but also gave us some insight into the correction process. He also provided several recommendations that we incorporated into the house after closing. Be sure and ask him about the importance of testing for radon. Overall, our experience with Jerrod was pleasant and contributed to creating value and confidence in our new place. We would certainly engage his services again if we should ever choose to move again."

"David got there even before we did and had already been on the roof by the time we arrived. He was very thorough and allowed us to follow him everywhere. He answered questions as he went for us and gave any advice we asked of him. When he was finished, he went over the entire report with us, including pictures he had taken, on the laptop he'd brought with him. He answered all our questions and spent as much time as needed on a topic until we fully understood. We then received the full report that night (minus the radon report that was pending completion of the test). Overall, we felt it was a wonderful experience. This is our first home purchase, and he made us very comfortable. We left feeling very confident about our results. We would definitely use Block Home Inspections again and will recommend him to anyone looking for this type of service. <br />"

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Kansas City, MO

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
