"Spring Carpets took two days to install our floor. On day one they came and removed all the carpet, carpet pad, carpet strips and glue. They then floated the floors. On day two they installed all the hardwoods including the stained quarter round and transition strips. The installers were very efficient. They had installation down to a science. They were on time and very polite."

"Overall, this company did an excellent job. Arnold was very meticulous in measuring for the carpet, and we liked the quality of the carpet. I was able to select the granite personally, so I knew there were no flaws in the material. The final cost was exactly the same as the estimate. The carpet installers were okay - they grumbled about the amount of boxes they had to move out of my closets, but I do have a lot of stuff. I didn't care for their playing loud music while they worked, and they didn't always show up when they said they would, but they did a good job. The granite installers weren't terribly friendly either, but did a good job. The man who installed the tile backsplash was very meticulous and did a great job. I did not realize until he was done that the pleated shade in the kitchen would no longer close all the way because the tile was thicker than the formica it replaced, but that was my fault. We purchased our new undermount sink from Ideal - their price was the same as the hardware store's but better quality. I bought a new faucet from the hardware store and a new gas cooktop. We had to get a plumber to install these, but they had to be here when the counters were measured so the holes could be cut properly. The company owners were very helpful. They even helped us find a motel that accepted pets to stay in while the painters were here. I thought that was over and above the call of duty!"

"I was pleased with the job of installing even though they underestimated the square footage needed and I had to wait a few days to complete the job. Customer service is excellent and was in constant contact with me until the job was finished. I would recommend them to anyone contemplating buying new carpets."

"Jordan, the manager was awesome. He was incredibly knowledgeable of his product and was able to come and measure the house the very next day. The plan was for the installation to take five days. The installers for the tile were prompt and efficient. The install only took three days. The carpet installation only took six hours. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to remodel their home. They may be a bit pricy, but you definitely are paying for what you get: excellent service, diligent workers, and efficient installation."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Katy, TX

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
