"Great. They removed several branches in my Oak tree and my Magnolia tree. Then they fixed my drainage by removing some dirt to direct water away from my patio and planted some grass. It hasn't rained yet so I don't know how successful they were yet. I was very pleased with their work."

"We initially planned to install gravel, but Derek took the time to recommend Zoysia grass instead, explaining it would be more suitable for our shaded backyard and more cost-effective in the long run. I really appreciated that he didn’t just move forward with the more expensive option, but instead provided thoughtful, honest guidance that was in our best interest. In addition to installing the Zoysia, the team also added river rocks for a drainage area and completed minor grading and resloping. They were very professional, efficient, and completed all the work within a single day. The pricing was very reasonable, and the quality of work exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for reliable, high-quality outdoor services. "

"When Johnny came out, we really didn't know what to expect. He analyzed our issues and came up with a detailed plan and drawing. His crews showed up on time and work was completed quickly and efficiently. He didn't ask for any payments until the first big rain storm; he wanted to make sure all the gutters and drains were working properly. I highly recommend Blalock Landscaping and Drainage."

"Had to have flooring replaced due to damage from Hurricane Harvey. Never having been faced with this before, I called or stopped by several places for information and estimates. Floors For Living in Spring was far and away the best store and offered top notch customer service. Store manager Derek was friendly and helpful from the minute we walked in the door. Absolutely no pressure. He explained the various products and prices and thoroughly explained what to expect regarding the installation process as well. He was always available to answer any questions or provide any other assistance I may have needed during the process. Due to the number of rooms I decided to divide the flooring project into three separate installations, beginning in November and finishing up the first week of January. The installation crews were different each time, but all the installers were skilled, hard-working, friendly, and spent a lot of time on details to ensure the floors were properly installed. The store always called the day before each installation to confirm the appointment and the installers always showed up right on time and worked the entire day until each installation was completed. They also thoroughly cleaned up afterward. For product selection, knowledgeable and caring staff, and competitive prices, Floors For Living is several steps above everybody else I contacted. There is absolutely no sales presure put on the customer and more importantly, no hidden charges that crop up after the fact. I will gladly use them again and happily refer them to anyone looking to have floors installed. I tip my hat to Derek and the installers."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Kemah, TX

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
