The contractor then provided a Certificate of Liability for the subcontractor and told us not to mention his name or company to the insurance company and to tell the insurance company that we had hired the subcontractor ourselves. It takes a year to get a settlement from subcontractor insurance. We are writing about this so that it may save someone else from suffering this problem or loss. We had provided all materials, and the contract was for labor."
