"I couldn't be happier with this company. Brian's (owner) communication start to finish was excellent. Our tech was punctual, courteous and worked very hard to do the best work possible. Brian followed up to make sure we were happy with their work. We had some areas we weren't sure were stains or wear so Brian himself came for a follow up and made sure we were satisfied before leaving. When I need carpet or upholstery cleaning in the future I won't hesitate to give them a call."

"It is rare that you find fair pricing and quality from the same source. With Carpet Surplus, you do. Their pricing is more than competitive in this market area, and their customer service is impeccable. <br /> They were concerned and attentive to ensuring our job was completed to their high standards, and more importantly, our expectations. They over delivered here, as we are picky buyers. <br /> I would highly recommend Carpets Surplus, Norcross, GA! <br />"

"Lee (Dodley), the owner, came with several toolboxes of specialty devices and tools specifically built for carpet-stretching. He showed us why the carpet had a sizable 'hump' in the middle of the floor, moved furniture as needed to stretch carpeting in two rooms, and then expertly stretched the humps out of the carpet. He really knows his craft, was careful to prevent damage, and did the cleanup afterwards. He was fast, and charged a fair price. Carpet looks great now, and he guaranteed his work. A true professional start to finish!"

"They use subcontractors for the installation but they also did a good job. I got some carpet samples and when I went looked elsewhere they had the best price on what I wanted. They were offering free installation so I nailed it down and committed to it several weeks before I ordered it. They even had a better price than other places that had sales. They moved all the large pieces of furniture and I took off the small things. They had these wonderful sliders that they used to move the furniture. They told me when they came that they were not supposed to move antiques and I have a lot of antiques. They had not made me aware of that ahead of time and it was because they didn't want to assume the liability. I told them that it was all right because I was standing there. They were on time and punctual. There were not any problems with the scheduling. I think they always use the same installers."

"These guys have the widest selection of carpet I've ever seen, across multiple manufacturers. And the discount was substantial enough to make it worth the trip, around 30-40% vs. quotes from local flooring companies, even after considering shipping costs (which were less than I expected). There was a bit of a snafu with the delivery of the carpet, as we needed it to arrive by a set date so our installer (a 3rd party) could install the carpet before we moved into the house. We were in danger of not receiving the carpet in time, but they acknowledged the timing issue was their mistake and as a result authorized a rush next-day delivery without charging us anything extra for shipping so it all worked out."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Kingston, GA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
