"We were duly impressed with Hackney Carpet. <br /> We were looking for help with carpet repair. Jeff advised that Hackney does not provide carpet repair services and offered a recommendation on other providers to consider. Even though we did not represent business for him, he took some additional time to give a free consultation on options for possible carpet repair. <br /> We got quotes for repairing the carpet from a few providers and finally decided to replace it instead.  Of course, we went back to Hackney Carpet. They came out to take measurements when they said they would and they prepared a detailed quote for replacing the carpet.  <br /> We were not able to use them for this job because their quote was just over our maxed out budget. Still, we will definitely keep Hackney in mind and refer them to others. <br />"

"They were delightful. They came out and did all the measurements. Their prices were fantastic. We had two different parts of the house carpeted. The first time was a piece-of-cake. It was super easy and it went really fast. The second time we had a little bit of a hiccup because it was during the Fourth of July holiday. So, we had planned to have it put in a certain day, but the carpet had not been delivered yet. That was a small pain, but overall they were great."

"John and Luke are straight forward. Carpet is beautiful. Installation was on a Saturday. They arrived on time and the work was completed by 4 p.m. My only complaint is there was a little more space than I desired between the carpet and some Pergo flooring on the bottom of the stairs. (Space between the trim and the carpet. )This probably would have happened with anyone installing as I had very thick carpet that was removed."

"It is rare that you find fair pricing and quality from the same source. With Carpet Surplus, you do. Their pricing is more than competitive in this market area, and their customer service is impeccable. <br /> They were concerned and attentive to ensuring our job was completed to their high standards, and more importantly, our expectations. They over delivered here, as we are picky buyers. <br /> I would highly recommend Carpets Surplus, Norcross, GA! <br />"

"Lee (Dodley), the owner, came with several toolboxes of specialty devices and tools specifically built for carpet-stretching. He showed us why the carpet had a sizable 'hump' in the middle of the floor, moved furniture as needed to stretch carpeting in two rooms, and then expertly stretched the humps out of the carpet. He really knows his craft, was careful to prevent damage, and did the cleanup afterwards. He was fast, and charged a fair price. Carpet looks great now, and he guaranteed his work. A true professional start to finish!"

"The owner and installers were wonderful. They did an efficient job and thoroughly cleaned up afterwards.  Their price was mjore than reasonable and the floors look excellent.  We are now having the carpeting removed from the entire second floor (4 bedrooms and a bonus room) and I am looking forward to our homes new, clean look. <br />"

"These guys have the widest selection of carpet I've ever seen, across multiple manufacturers. And the discount was substantial enough to make it worth the trip, around 30-40% vs. quotes from local flooring companies, even after considering shipping costs (which were less than I expected). There was a bit of a snafu with the delivery of the carpet, as we needed it to arrive by a set date so our installer (a 3rd party) could install the carpet before we moved into the house. We were in danger of not receiving the carpet in time, but they acknowledged the timing issue was their mistake and as a result authorized a rush next-day delivery without charging us anything extra for shipping so it all worked out."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Kingston, GA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
