"The laminate flooring job went exceptionally well. After we first contacted Don Marcotte Flooring, Don called me back the same day. He called several more times while we worked out a good meeting time to look at samples. He gave us great advice, came to our house to take measurements, then emailed us a clear and detailed quote. He was so helpful and responsive that I didn't even bother to look elsewhere. The installer (Eddie) arrived on the scheduled day, and Don even called the day before to confirm. There were no surprises during the installation. The workmanship is top notch- it was done carefully but quickly, the installer was VERY skilled, and everything was cleaned up when the job was done. Later the same day, Don called again to make sure we were happy with the project. Needless to say, we are delighted! Don and Eddie get an A+ for customer service, quality work, and being nice guys that are pleasant to work with. We will be bringing them back soon to do the wood flooring in our dining room. We keep a very short list of contractors that we like to do repeat business with, and Don Marcotte Flooring is on it."

"Went in to store on a Friday afternoon to look at samples. Sales person was not very helpful to us in choosing, just walked around while we looked at different things, so not sure if we got the best carpet for our needs. However, the service/install was exemplary. Owner came out at 9am the next morning to measure/price it out and told us they were 3 weeks out for install. As it turned out, they called us to move the install up as they were ahead of schedule and even then, due to pending snow, moved it up again - if it was convenient for us - so that they could get in/out before the storms. This far exceeded any service I have had from any of the "big box stores"."

"While they were very nice, and got back to me in reasonable time, they quoted me a premium price for Bruce hardwood.  This is the same brand that can be bought at Home Depot and Lowes, and receives poor reviews from installers.  I purchased my own wood from JBW in Falmouth, ME, and got FAR better quality flooring.  I also sourced my own independent installer, which saved me quite a bit of money over the price quoted by B&C for install. <br /> <br />Again, they were great to work with, and they were very nice, but for the quality of flooring and price of install, I couldn't go with their price. <br />"

"Our purple carpet had about 100 urine stains from previous dogs and our own. The specialist, Robert, matched to color and treated every spot. If we didn't know where they were, we'd never know they spots had been there. Perfect job!"

"Fantastic! From beginning to end the entire job went as well as I could have imagined. The only delay was caused by a flaw in some of the cabinetry purchased straight from the manufacturer. Literally on the last day of the kitchen install, the carpenters opened the last box and there was a huge flaw in several pieces of molding. The contractor rescheduled his team to come back when the new molding arrived. I mention this both to point out that the delay was *not* the fault of my contractor, but also, that he was able to fit us in asap for a quick half day install of the last few pieces of cabinetry. Every member of the team: carpenters, electricians, plumbers, siding installer, were on time every single day! I have personally recommended this company, and the kitchen designer, Linda Leone from Cyr Lumber, many times."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Kittery, ME

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
