"We went in not knowing what we wanted. Steve was very helpful with product choices. He came out to measure and made recommendations. He gave us an estimate and when we weren't quite ready to fund the project he said he would keep our information. Sure enough 1 year later we contacted him and he still had our original estimate with all of the products we wanted. Once the project was started, Dimitri and his son were amazing and put in very long days until the job was done. They were very meticulous and did an outstanding job. We will definitely go back for our next flooring project."

"The estimator took about twenty minutes to decide the cost.  He used a laser measure, so it didn't take long.  He was professional.  He told me where to go on the internet to select the linoleum that I wanted.  My kitchen is a "L" shape.  I don't like that I have to pay for the extra linoleum that gets cut off for the "L"."

"<p>I looked all over for someone to convert my carpeted stairs over to hardwood stairs.  My husband was going to do it but I really wanted a professional job so I went to Angie's list and am I glad I did!  Phil came out and gave me a great price for the install job (my husband did the stain on the wood).  Phil worked within my timeframe and when we ran into a problem Phil worked with us to do the job over 2 days instead of 1 and he didn't charge us more money...Phil is the best!!  </p> <p>We had already had the new floors put in but the trim wasn't completed because we were waiting for the stairs to be completed and Phil finished the trim at no additional charge.  Phil knew how worried I was about damaging my new floors and he covered the floors the whole time he worked.  I am so grateful for Phil and I have already recommended him to my friends.  Phil gets a all around 10 from me...Thanks Phil :-)</p> <br />"

"Brian came out to measure and give us a bid.  He was very informative and professional.  Also, very responsive with messaging, etc.  We ended up using a different contractor who still uses a floor finish that is no longer used by most refinishers, but it was used on our floors originally and we chose to go that route. <br />"

"Second time I've used Ralph Opfer Floors and I highly recommend them. The selection is extensive without being overwhelming and the customer service saved me a lot of time by listening to what my job entailed and helping me narrow my options. The installation went without a hitch and I couldn't have been more pleased overall. I recommend them to my clients who are looking for a flooring contractor. Mary Nesel/Lyon Real Estate"

"Ron arrived exactly on time both for the initial visit to give me an estimate and to clean a test section of the tile floor and also on the cleaning appointment day. Ron was exceptionally courteous and professional, finished within the estimated time frame, left everything immaculate, and the results were fantastic. He also gave me some great tips on carpet and tile maintenance. Best of all, he didnt even balk at the prospect of coming back after he made the first of two round-trips of my very steep, narrow, winding, half-mile driveway. I was more than satisfied with both the work and the outcome."

"Our main point of contact was Rick. We had good communication from him and everyone we dealt with at Mand D. Rick came to measure our carpeted areas. I texted him some carpet part numbers and names that we saw at Home Depot and he found the right carpets and got them ordered. When the carpets arrived, four excellent and friendly installers arrived right on time. They worked very quickly and were in and out in very little time - probably 3 hours for removal and installation. They vacuumed up all the loose threads from cutting the carpets and hauled away the old stuff (for a very acceptable additional charge). We are happy with both the carpets, the quality of installation, the cost, and our interactions with the people of Mand D and we would recommend them to anyone. <br />"

"<p>Went great.</p> <p>Great sales process, in showroom.</p> <p>Great discussion and questions answered by owner, Gary, in home while measuring.</p> <p>Great installers, Matt & Ivan.</p> <p>Great carpet nearly a year later, in my rental.</p> <p>This is a no brainer - call them, ask for Gary, get your carpet done right. FAQs for carpet installation projects in Knights-Landing, CA

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
