"The sales guy was very impressive. He explained everything about the process and did a detailed inspection of the areas to be worked on. <br /> He was honest in saying that sometimes the concrete seams don't match up perfectly, but that the installers would use a grinder to feather out any spots where this would happen. I asked about cracking and he said that it rarely occurred. <br /> The installer came on the appointed day and was still there when I returned from work. He had completed much of the job, but indicated that he had trouble with some of the equipment and that some of the poly-leveling material had sprayed around some of the work areas. He said he would come back and finish the next day (which was a Saturday). <br /> He returned Saturday and finished. I inspected the work and was generally happy with the concrete leveling; my front step was now very close to it's original height and my patio was shedding water away from the house. But I did find a couple of things that distressed me and told the installer about them: <br /> 1. There were two very noticeable cracks and a third very thin one. Would he be filling these cracks to prevent future water damage? <br /> 2. There were many places in the driveway where the slabs were still uneven. Was he planning on grinding those down as promised? <br /> After he left, I also noticed that the patching material used to fill the holes seemed to be chipping away already and in several holes, did not even come up to the level of the slab. <br /> He later called back and said that he would come back and use a high quality sealer to fill the cracks. He didn't mention the uneven concrete. <br /> I later was contacted by the office about payment. I explained that there were outstanding issues. I was assured that arrangement had been made to fix them. <br /> Then I made the ultimate error: I paid them. <br /> When the sales guy made a follow up call, I told him there were still outstanding issues, and that I had been promised that they would be addressed. <br /> No cracks have been filled, the holes collect water every time it rains and I am mortified at the prospect of trying to clear snow from my uneven driveway this winter. <br /> Could I have made more noise with them about this? Sure. Should I have to after making three people aware of the problems? Certainly not."

"Justin and his team are great. A beautiful family room addition was separating from our house. We brought in the top 3 contractors in the area, and Justin was the only one who got down in the dirt under the deck to take a look at things. They were not the cheapest option but were the ones who aligned with the structural engineer we used for an assessment, and they made me feel comfortable throughout a stressful situation. I will recommend them to anyone I know for foundation work! Great bunch of people!"

"The crew came in the first day and began cutting into the floor around the perimeter of the basement taking care of two separate rooms and the furnace room, which connects to the new basement through a doorway. <br /> As the work progressed the window wells were opened along the side of the basement closest to the driveway and window drains were installed to help control the water flow into the new drainage system. <br /> Next the dual sump-pump system was installed and the provider gave us complete details on how the system would work.  He then asked us for input on how to locate the external drain to the exterior and we showed the installer where we would be installing a new deck and asked that the discharge point would be placed out clear of the overhang of the deck and would follow the edge of the existing concrete pad that would remain under the new deck. <br /> Next the installers brought loads of crushed rock to be used in back filling the interior drain channels along the perimeter of the basement floor.  It was loaded from the driveway through one of the window wells that had previously been opened up along the driveway. <br /> The No-Water-System was placed in the channels and then covered with concrete and smoothed out.  The floor was thoroughly cleaned and swept and then an open drain was installed below the floor level in the doorway connecting the old basement to the new. <br /> This crew was exceptionally courteous and cheerful.  They were a delight to have in our home.  We would recommend Spencer, Randy, and Zach to anyone.  John Peterson was directly involved in the sump-pump installation and also provided the services of sales representative and foreman for the job.  He was thorough, professional, and an absolute dear. <br /> They were all pleasant to be around and did not object to questions or a little light humor and such as the job proceeded. <br /> <br />"

"After having a few negative experiences with contractors, what a surprise to work with a company that seems to do everything well. Albert came out to my house to give an estimate and I was sold almost immediately. Albert told me about my current shingles and that there had been a class action lawsuit. He offered to help me if I wanted to go after the company and then proceeded to tell me that I could probably get by for a couple of years if I wanted to go that route. I was so impressed with his knowledge and honesty that I decided to just pull the trigger and have them replaced. Albert told me that it would take three days. The first day there were 30mph winds so it wasn't safe for the crew to start work. Albert kept me in the loop and said they would start the next day. The job ended up taking two days including cleanup. The crew probably spent 3 hours cleaning up and left the yard looking better than when they arrived. Albert then followed up and spent an hour or so checking on their work and also doing another pass of cleaning up the nails. Replacing a roof is expensive and not an exciting way to spend your money but Action Roofing did a great job and I would highly recommend using them for roofing issues."

"He used this oxidation or whatever process. It had to be out of the 4 days before I could move in. It was relatively good. He was great to work with. He has said he would come in and give it one more blast. He is excellent! I really like him. The effectiveness of the treatment has been so-so. It's 80% better. I haven't talked to him but he called me to see. He said he could get it one more time whatever that means. He came and inspected my new home. That's how I got to meet him. I had another company come out and give an estimate at $6000. So price wise he was much better. He started the treatment on 31st of May, that's the day I closed on my house. So he got in at 8 o' clock that day. He worked over, they did everything on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and then I was able to move in on Tuesday morning. He did the best that he could."

FAQs for concrete foundation repair projects in Knoxville, IA

Visible cracks, water leaks, uneven floors, or walls that won’t line up are classic red flags. You might also notice sticking windows, doors that no longer latch, or exterior cracks crawling up brick or siding. Even a damp, musty basement can hint at trouble. If you spot any of these, call a foundation pro right away. Early inspections cost far less than waiting until the damage threatens your home’s stability.

Yes, foundation problems impact your home’s value. Buyers want proof that the foundation is stable, and a recent, professional repair can actually boost confidence in your home. You’ll need to disclose the work, but documentation showing the structure was properly stabilized, especially with piers in regions known for shifting soil, often reads as a plus, not a problem. Skipping repairs, on the other hand, can cut your sale price and shrink the pool of interested buyers. Taking care of the issue protects both value and peace of mind.

Foundations are engineered for exceptional longevity when constructed correctly and maintained diligently. Concrete slab foundations remain structurally sound for 200 years, while other foundation types deliver integrity between 75 and 100 years. Regular professional inspections and timely maintenance further secure a foundation’s lifespan and ensure your home stays safe over the long term.
