"Our initial meeting with Suj was great. Initially, we had in mind a much larger job. He had quoted us $3000 for the closet demolition / wall rebuild (non-load bearing), packaged with several other items. Together with the fee for drawings ($4000) and permits, this was a bit higher than we anticipated. However, we decided to go with Suj due to his responsiveness and professionalism. Out of our other quotes, Suj’s pricing was middle of the pack - not the cheapest or most expensive. When the drawings were complete and evaluated, he gave us an updated cost of $6000 over text message. The scope of work had changed, and this was no longer part of a bigger project - understandable. The issue was when he gave us the official estimate a week later and up’d the price once again to $9000. When asked what happened, his exact words were “well, I need to get paid too”. He had weeks to consider before quoting the $6000 and nothing had changed since then. The extra $3000 may be insignificant compared to most renovation costs, but for us in our first home, this was back breaking. We continued with Suj since we were already locked in and well past the 3 day cancellation period. Their work for the most part was exceptional. The new wall blended perfectly into our existing structure, and the ceiling patch was also well done. The problem here was the floor. They had dug up a 1” deep pit in the floor, likely to remove the wall studs. However, they did not patch the floor or even let us know this was going to be an issue. We were never told about the pit until I decided to check in on their progress one day towards the end of the wall build. This required us to pay a handyman to come in next day on a weekend to patch the concrete since we had cabinets being installed the following Tuesday. Suj was aware of this and did not believe it pertinent information. Overall, Suj and SoCal Builders do quality work, but the issues in pricing consistency lost us before the work even started. Not even telling us that we’d be left with a 1” deep pit in our floor after was another huge issue which should’ve been brought up much earlier. This was our first experience with a contractor and I’m not sure if this is typical or not. However, it’s enough to make me doubt I’d contact them for any future work."

"My wood balcony has termites and water damages. So I hired RET to do the job. Kevin gave estimates and recommended composite planks for floor and red woods for railings. His workmanship was very professional and finished on time! On top of that, Kevin updated my balcony to the latest building codes. His price is very reasonable. If you want cheap prices and lousy jobs,hire someone else! Highly recommended!"

"I am very pleased with the work done by Hic builders. Our initial contact was Josef. He came out and gave us a fair price to replace a wood fence, patio cover, and deck. Materials were sourced and brought in without delay despite supply shortages. My dad is a civil engineer and he noted the wood to be of good quality. He and his workers showed up daily, on-time until the project was completed. Every day the work area was left tidy and cleaned up. We live in a townhome. The only access to the backyard is through the front door and living area. His team covered our furniture and flooring. We will definitely call on Hic Builders in the future and recommend others to do the same."

So far he and his team have remodeled 2 bedrooms including building a built in desk and 3 drawer cabinet, installed wood flooring, built cabinets in closet, built wall to wall bookshelves, installed 2 new doors, replaced a window with glass block, exterior stucco, drywalled entire garage with new electrical, remodeled 2 bathrooms foundation up including new copper plumbing new sewer drains, new sub flooring, tile floors and walls, sinks, cabinets, showers, all fixtures and painting. he is very professional ,takes all covid precautions, is on time, works all day and then some, finishes when he says it will be done and at the price he quoted. "I would definitely hire them again. We had them take off the old white brick around the fire place and install natural rock. The did beautiful work. My only complaint is they should have put up plastic to keep the dust confined to the living room. I had dust all through the house."

"Recently completed a 2 bathroom remodel for my parents really old home. There was no high pressure tactics to remodel to something fancy when I was looking for functionality for the remodel. The quote was very detailed so I knew exactly what made up the cost of the remodel (materials, labor and estimation for permits). There were a couple of adjustments made along the way that either I requested or were unforeseeable because of the age of the home. But I was consulted and fully aware of any changes that were going to change the quote and the increases were small and fully approved before made. Workers arrived on time, wore masks and cleaned up after themselves each day before they left. I would recommend Skyline Konstruction and plan to use them again for the next upgrade we plan to make."
