"Yancy's is very price competitive. Their tile selection is not that big, but we found what we liked, and everything went very smoothlly and in a timely fashion.  Their materail prices are comparable to Master Tile, but their install prices were signifanctly less than Master TIle.  I have used Yancy's for carpet in the past.  This was the first time I had used them for tile.  I would use them again. <br />"

"Incredibly well! Very happy with everything: from selecting the actual flooring; to placing a special order; to the final installation. Selecting Creative Carpet was the best choice we could've made, and second only to the floor we had installed. It's beautiful!!! :)"

"Very nice job, very professional, fast, considering it was an all-day job for 3 rooms, hallway and stairs. They moved all large furniture, although we had removed small items and emptied cabinets and bookshelves from the rooms prior to their arrival. They even knew how to unhook the computer and made sure it was in working order after hooking it back up. They were careful when moving furniture and didn't mark up woodwork or walls, which had just been painted. <br />"

"This review might seem very mixed, because my experience was such.  Ed is an expert at what he does, and he is a very nice, professional guy. <br /> The down side of my experience was dealing with a woman who may or may not have been his wife.  This woman works as a receptionist on the phone and in their showroom.  I can't ever, in 31 years of homeowing, think of a time that i had to engage with a  more rude, ignorant person. On the phone, she was very cranky and nasty. I could use other more accurate adjectives, but I won't.  I had go into their showroom one time, and when i opened the front door, I heard her yell "CUSTOMER" to alert her son that someone was there.  <br /> I feel badly for Ed and his son, who really are trying to do a good job running a nice family business. I think they're afraid of her, and I really can't say I blame them. <br /> This woman is an enormous detriment to this company.  In the future, if we were to use them again, I'd have to be guaranteed to have no dealing with her. <br /> <br />"

"Recently Creative Carpet & Flooring of Highland, IN installed hardwood flooring for us and what a beautiful job it was! The flooring completely transformed the entire upper level of our home. We had the pleasure of working with Steve at CC&F. Steve was very knowledgable, honest and especially patient with me with regard to all my questions and visits to the store. The installers were professional and worked efficiently and diligently. My family and I had minimal disruption during the entire project which was nice especially since the kids were still in school at the time of the install. We would not hesitate to recommend Creative Carpet & Flooring to family and friends. Thank you Steve and Creative Carpet & Flooring!!"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Portage, IN

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
