We have used the shutters on extremely cold evenings and when there were tornado alerts. So they are not just for hurricanes. "Everyone at Solar Shield was very nice and professional. We had a few concerns when the moisture barrier was installed and we still had rain in our bedroom. Frank got it corrected the next day, and finished the roof the following week. The good news: very nice looking roof with no more leaks. The bad news: we got pictures of the hurricane straps installed and had the roof inspected by our insurance company. They found that the hurricane straps installed were not up to their standards and neither was the moisture barrier. They also found multiple slats (we didn’t have decking that covered the whole roof - old house) that were split and compromised during the work, so we were unable to qualify for any insurance discounts. Overall, we have a nice looking roof - top of the line from Solar Shield Industries. Hopefully, it will last a lifetime. But unfortunately, we have some decking remediation that needs to be done and we still need hurricane straps, which will probably be clips now. Not a big enough deal for me to raise a stink. I can retro clips and repair the few decking issues from the attic & under siding. And apparently, the moisture barrier is just not what the insurance company accepts as a “moisture barrier.”"

"He did a good job installing the weather striping around the doors.  One door wasn't in the frame correctly and he fixed that.
They sent someone by to check on his work.  That guy talked to us about the air tightness of our home, which is great.  He kept trying to find something wrong.  It is a newer home.  He mentioned we should put energy film on one window.  I looked the film up online and found it at Home Depot.  He told us that they had to do it because "if one speck of dust is on the film" it will compromise the integrity.  One speck of dust? This isn't an ER or clean room.  He was really pushing to try and sell something else.
Because of the salesman that came 'to make sure the door work was correct' is why we won't use this company again.
