"We have used Closets By Design extensively in our former condo and in our current home. Mallory is absolutely wonderful when it comes to the design aspect—she has great, functional ideas and is a pleasure to work with. The most recent installers—Izak, Dakota, Stephan, and Nathan—were terrific. On time, ready to work, knew exactly what they were supposed to do, and installed everything perfectly. Plus they’re all really nice, personable guys! And….when it comes time to sell your home, you’ll be way ahead of your competition if you have custom closets and built-ins. Buyers love them!!"

"I did my usual multi-bid thing on big projects and <br /> these guys came in at the same price as some others but their responsiveness and professionalism were a few steps above the other guys. <br /> They agreed to do our building during the oddest of weekend hours because we are open all the time and I wanted to minimize business disruption. <br /> Install guys were buttoned-up. Real pros. Never stopped moving. Sweated the details. <br /> They immediately fixed mistakes and faults in the material. In the end they were honest and reliable and good. <br /> I gave a B for quality because the floors haven't been down that long so I have no history as to how they will hold up...but they are the same floors as Providence hospital and they have had them for years with no problems. True...they don't have to deal with Rottweilers.... <br /> ;) <br /> I recommend them. <br />"

"I actually have several carpeting company information on hand at last month of 2013. based on online review and previous customer's experiences. We called Bill's carpet and trying to get the quote. They answer the phone very quick and said they can have somebody to stop by my house and estimate my basement and give us quotation... I have 2550 sqare feet house, and walk out basement. The basement probably about 1100 sqare feet. The quotation is $2500 including carpet and labor, which my husbank and I accepted. We set up the installation schedule date for two days later. And they did very nice job and very efficiancy. My husband, two kids and I are all very enjoy our new carpet and all finished basement. <br />"

"did I am so glad I chose DE McNabb for my new flooring projects! I live really close by to the company and was in the market for new flooring. My first contact was on 7/23/13 when I stopped by on what I had planned to be an information gathering trip. Upon walking in I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who directed me to Chuck Economou, their floor supervisor. We discussed what would be the best options for my budget and living situation ( 3 cats in the house) and he directed me to the appropriate products-vinyl sheet flooring for the kitchen/laundry room and a newly developed carpet product that would stand up well to any potential pet accidents from both an order and staining standpoint. I felt no sales pressure whatsoever during our meeting. Chuck took the time to make a detailed estimate based on blueprints I had of the house to give me the best information I could have. In fact I was so impressed I decided to place an order right then and there! <br /> The next day, the measuring technician came out and made a detailed plan. I had called Chuck back that morning to let him know I didn't think the color I had chosen for the vinyl floor would match. He said it would be no problem to change it. In fact he came by the house a couple days later with more samples took the time to double check the measuring and layout plans. He also accepted some Angie's List coupons that I had found and quot;after the factand quot; without hesitation. The plan was to do the vinyl flooring first and the carpet later. Product was ordered and Phase 1 ( vinyl floor) was scheduled for 8/6 and 8/7. <br /> On installation day, the technician arrived when expected. He was polite, clean and organized. I had contracted for McNabb to move my appliances and remove/replace the trim. He even moved the laundry tub! ( I wasn't sure about disconnecting the gas dryer, so I had my repair guy do that just to be sure the house didn't blow up). The technician faced a lot of difficulties because of the layout of my kitchen ( lots of silly angles in the nook area). Also the humid weather didn't help things dry, so installation actually took an extra half a day. But that didn't matter to me! I'd much rather have someone take their time to do a nice job than rush it and he sure did that. My floor looks awesome and I could not be happier <br /> I am sure that DE McNabb will do just as good a job with the carpet install on 8/20 and 8/21. This company believes in service and doing the job right. They also stand behind their products and their workmanship. Yes they might be more expensive than the big box stores, but it's well worth it. I've never had a sales person from a big box store keep me as informed and come out each day to check on the progress of the job like Chuck did. Also I've rarely had an installer work with such attention to detail. <br />"

"We own an older home and are replacing the carpet on the second floor. We decided to try and fix our creaky floors before buying new carpet. Carl and Pete came to our house to screw down the creaky floors and the stairs leading to the first floor. We discovered that the staircase had not been built properly and was held together by nails on the sides. They replaced the treads and fixed the staircase and now it's very quiet and a lot safer. Carl and Pete did a great job and arrived on time. They cleaned up after they were done. We would hire them again. <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Lakeland, MI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
