"I can’t recommend Andrew highly enough. We had several home projects and repairs completed, and every one of them was handled with professionalism, skill, and great attention to detail. Andrew took care of drywall repairs, installing light fixtures, fixing a door that wouldn’t close properly, and mounting shelves and hardware—all done efficiently and cleanly. What really stood out was the quality of his work and how carefully he treated our home. No rushing, no shortcuts. Communication was excellent from start to finish, pricing was fair and transparent, and everything was completed exactly as promised. It’s hard to find someone this reliable and versatile in Las Vegas, but Andrew is now our go-to handyman. If you need quality work done right the first time, don’t hesitate to hire Andrew. We’ll absolutely be calling him again for future projects."

"Andy and Matt are absolutely wonderful! I had a huge flood loss and after a month long delay with the original contractor my friend recommended Axiom. They came in and within 2 days had begun rebuild. It was a massive rebuild of the kitchen, laundry room and 3 bathrooms so my stress level was through the roof but they made this nightmare as smooth as humanly possible. They worked with me every step of the way, kept me informed of what was going on and did a beautiful job! I would highly recommend Axiom for any remodel on your home."

"I looked at their proposal but it was extremely high. I had other proposals and I chose someone else. He quoted $15,000 and the other two quotes came in the general area of $6000. They gave me the quote via email and it was good and detailed. But, what I wanted to see was the material costs and the labor and I didn't get that. I'd recommend that members research and quiz them and look for other quotes because they were way too high. They were immediate about the response to come up to give me a quote."

"Tom came out to do the estimate on time and made an appointment for the following week. He called, as promised the day before the work was to be done and finalized the day of work. The next day he showed up on time again to cut the bottom 16" off my shelves and doors and put the original handles in new locations. When he left, the discarded wood was picked up and the work area was cleaned up as well. I'm very happy with the work and price, and now have a good, dependable handyman/construction company to call on the next time I need anything like this done. <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Las Vegas, NV

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
