"Getting a walk in tub is expensive no matter who you use. My experience thus far is with installation only and I must say my install went great. It has been over a month and no issues with my tub so I cannot comment on repair process with American Standard."

"Jamin was very professional and did the work within a reasonable time frame. I was having trouble finding a contractor because no one wanted to take on a small job / fix some one else's problem. My house was tore up and the remaining laminate installation was dependent on this work being completed. Jamin was very helpful in accommodating me after considering my situation. He came in on a Saturday to fix the sub floor. His did a good job and I truly appreciate his responsiveness. Thank You Jamin!"

"I have a 1957 built ranch-style home that needed some major upgrades over the past 3 years.  Those projects were all done by Dion at Three Rivers Remodeling.  I met Dion back in 08/2011 through my neighbor (his in-laws) and the first project was my upstairs bathroom.  I was impressed with Dion's professionalism, attention to detail/cleanliness, and punctuality.  I was really impressed when Dion asked if it would OK for him to work on the bathroom on Labor Day.  Since then, in 2011 Dion installed glass block windows in my garage and replaced the doors/base boards in the hallway.  In 2012, Dion replaced a paneled wall in the living room with drywall, painted the living room, refinished the hardwood floors, and built stairs leading from the basement to the living area.  In 02/2014, I hired Dion for a complete kitchen remodel.  Finally, in 11/2014, Dion remodeled my downstairs bathroom.  On that job, after he gutted the room we found several problems that we were not expecting.  Dion worked most days until 9:00 (after asking me if that would be OK) in order to get the job done by the promised completion date while not sacrificing the quality of the finished project.  When I show people the finished project, they are always very impressed by Dion's work.
Dion does all the work himself and he is a bit of a perfectionist.  I know that he prefers to do the job right as opposed to doing the job cheaply.  I cannot say the same thing about the prior owners of my house.  When we discovered the issues with the downstairs basement, Dion explained my options.  What we could/could not get away with.  What is the right way/workaround to correct the problem.  Inevitably, with my experience with Dion, I trust his judgement and always authorize him to do it the right way.
When it comes to pricing, I do my research and go into the project with a range on what I think it will cost.  Dion always comes in within that range.  Never overpriced and never a low-ball estimate.  He discusses what needs to be done with me in layman's terms and his contract clearly discloses all the work to be done for the price.  Any unanticipated costs (like on the downstairs bathroom) are clearly discussed, priced, documented, and presented to me for approval before Dion proceeds with any work.
Oh, and Dion likes my dogs (and they love him) even letting them out for bathroom breaks while he's on the job.  May seem trivial, but, just another example of the extra steps Dion takes to make the whole process a positive experience.

"Rick and his crew are amazing! They saved my old Victorian home from sinking and took on a challenge that to me, seemed scary and overwhelming. RMS Contracting included me in every aspect of the repair and explained the steps involved in jacking up the house and fixing the foundation. I had almost given up hope after two years of trying to find a contractor to address my structural issues. That is when I decided to go to Home Advisor and found RMS Contracting. They were a life savor! Now with the piece of mind that my foundation is secure and the house is structurally sound, I am able to move forward and remodel/update the home with none other than, RMS Contracting. These guys work with you, are courteous, share there thoughts/ ideas (which I found helpful in decision making) and clean up along the way. They truly are amazing!!!"

Small jobs welcome

"My experience with Champion Kitchens was wonderful. The initial in-home estimate went well, Steve was on time and very thorough. Following that I met with John in the office to go over materials and prospective layout. I found the computer model very helpful in visualizing what the final outcome would be and I appreciated John's knowledgeable input. Throughout the process they were respectful of what I wanted for my kitchen. When it came time for the work to be completed I was impressed at the efficiency of their crews. They kept a regular schedule and I felt that the project was in good hands the whole time. Their plumber discovered a cracked return pipe when they got into the wall and floor, which added a little bit to the price, but they communicated this information to me as soon as it was discovered, and to be honest I had been bracing for such a thing given the age of my house. The plumber had a plaster guy come out on a Saturday to patch up the large hole that resulted as he informed me it was a little beyond his skill set. I appreciated his honesty and the final result looks great. I had my own floor contractor come in as I wanted a cork floor, which was something their go-to flooring company did not do. Again they were very respectful of my choice and took care to protect my new floor as they completed the remainder of their work. It took a little while to get the counters in as they had to be created to fit my somewhat wavy existing walls, but it was worth the wait. They're just laminate but they look great. I would not hesitate to recommend this company."

"Hello, Mark. I just wanted to get back to you to let you know how appreciative and impressed we are with your renovation of our bathroom. Since it was a total gut of the bathroom involving wall relocation, re-routing of plumbing and electrical service, it was a very complicated project. It has been a couple of months since completion, and everything is working as it should. I have confidence that it will continue to do so. In addition to all the work behind the walls that you cannot see, the finished project is beautiful and very functional for us. Your attention to detail and making everything just perfect is impressive. You treated our home, and the project, as though it was your own From the beginning, with your clear, up-front explanation of costs and throughout with continued communicatoin on progress, we had a high level of comfort. We look forward to the next project we can do with you. Thanks very much."

"I purchased a coupon in the summer and finally contacted them to get an appt. this fall. He called back promptly and we set an appt. for Dec. 1st. That day came and went but there was no word from Eric. I emailed and then called about the planned appt. that he missed. He eventually called back and apologized... said his van had broken down and that he had accidentally left his schedule book in the van with all his numbers. He said to call him back in a week or so. I called and emailed a few times and eventually he called me back. We rescheduled for Monday, Dec. 19th. He arrived at the given time, worked quickly, was very friendly, and did a good job. I recognize this is a busy time so appreciated the fact that he made sure to keep in contact even though it may have taken a bit longer that expected. I would hire him again as he was knowledgeable and was personable."

FAQs for walk in tub installation and replacement projects in Latrobe, PA

Because Medicare classifies walk-in tubs as non-durable medical equipment, it generally won’t pick up the tab. Medicaid can help if a doctor certifies that the tub is medically necessary, but rules change by state. Call your plan early, ask which forms you need, and keep any prescriptions or letters on file to improve your odds of reimbursement.

A walk-in bathtub’s fill and drain times hinge on your home’s water pressure and the tub’s hardware. Most models with a fast-fill faucet need about six to eight minutes to fill and two to three minutes to drain; larger basins or standard drains can tack on an extra 10 minutes. Stay seated until the water is completely gone so you don’t swing the door open on a full tub’s worth of water.

A walk-in bathtub holds 50 gallons of water, and its design supports capacities that range from 40 to 80 gallons, depending on the product. In contrast, a standard bathtub holds 25 to 45 gallons. This capacity is determined by the fixed design of the tub and its construction materials. Homeowners should review the detailed product specifications to confirm the exact volume available for use during bath time.

Walk-in tubs are tax-deductible when the purchase qualifies as a necessary medical expense and meets the IRS criteria. Caregivers who install a walk-in tub also qualify for the Dependent Care Tax Credit under specific conditions. Homeowners must verify these requirements with the IRS and consult a tax professional, as state and program guidelines enforce strict documentation standards for such deductions.
