"Outstanding company all around! Jose brought a bunch of carpet samples to our house that matched what we had discussed with him on the phone. We picked the pattern and he sent us more sample pieces so we could choose the exact color. Installation was as simple as showing the installers the room, and "we got it from here!" The seams, edges, and transitions are perfect."

"Very punctual, installers were great.  Can't see any seams!  The carpet is beautiful!  Criticisms: 1.  The salesperson never followed up with my quote and I had to call to find out the status; 2.  They measured incorrectly when they came to do the estimate so the installers didn't have enough carpet to do the job when they originally came.  They had to order more carpet and then come out a second time to finish the job.  3. They forgot to call me to tell me the additional carpet was in and to schedule the install. <br />"

"There are two parts to our purchase with Floors Direct. The first is the initial contact and subsequent visits. We were referred through Angie's List to Jose at Floors Direct. He was AMAZING. There wasn't a request he couldn't handle, there wasn't an impatient bone in his body and he was ALWAYS there to talk to us. We wanted hardwood floors throughout the first floor of our home, replacing carpet. He showed us hardwood and laminate floors, taking us through the pros and cons of each. We eventually decided on laminate floors. Jose gave us Floors Direct's best estimate and we paid a down payment. About a week after, we learned of tile floors that LOOKED like hardwood. Jose said he had them in stock. We quickly picked out what we wanted and Jose reconfigured our entire order as well as our schedule to install the new tile. He did it with a smile. If everyone in business was as polite, courteous and respectful as Jose, the world would be a great place.  <br /> Unfortunately, not everyone associated with Floors Direct is like Jose. The actual installers of our floor did their job but didn't make clear what their schedule was. Our tile was delayed, so they spent considerable time just lounging in our yard on the first day of work. We had a large entertainment center that they were paid to move -- they didn't even try to move it until five days into the project and when they tried they decided not to do it, which altered how they would install tile around the entertainment center. Worst of all, they left messes everywhere in our house, including our garage, back yard and bathroom (eww). Their inability to not clean up after themselves made our house smell and our yard messy. When these issues were brought up to Ramon, who was in charge of the installation, he acted as if he couldn't care less. He took his check (which there was a miscommunication on) and left. Jose apologized profusely for Ramon and his workers but couldn't do anything more about it.  <br /> Ultimately our floors look great, so through all of the problems we still got what we wanted. The bottom line is that Jose and the folks at Floors Direct are great -- they deserve an A! But their workers left a lot to be desired. They deserve a C. Average it out to a B. <br />"

"I made an appointment for the next day with Jack, who arrived within 5 minutes of the time.  He called a little ahead of time to let us know he was on the way. <br /> Jack examined the carpet and, backed by decades of experience as an installer, knew just what to do.  Nylon carpets, he explained, can sometimes expand in certain areas, depending upon how it was installed.  <em> (Note: I first called the company that sold and installed the carpet, Miami Rug & Carpet in Fort Lauderdale, to order service, but they didn't have the courtesy to call back.  We do not recommend them for anything.)</em> <br /> Gradually, Jack moved the bulge from inside the bedroom near the door into the hallway and up to the stairway half-wall.  Then he cut off a swatch measuring about 3/4" by 15", tacked down the new edge on new tackboard and...voila, the bulge was history.  <br /> I'm a fussy guy and will attest that the result was perfect, with no way to know that the carpet had gone through a nip and tuck procedure. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Excellent.  The owner of this branch of the chain, Michael Henry, visited us to prepare estimates and to check on the progress of the work. The installation crew was personable and capable and the work was done promptly and well. I highly recommend this vendor. <br />"

"Great! I went to Barnard's Carpet One in the morning of 2/22/16, Corey was very helpful and pointed me to exactly what I was looking for and in the price range/quality I was looking for. The carpet was for an empty room in a house that is being prepared to go on the market. I told Corey the situation and he came to the house to measure at 11:00AM and the installers were able to install by the same afternoon. <br /> Corey was very nice and polite as well as the two men who installed the carpet. <br /> Great job by all! <br />"

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Lauderdale-Isles, FL

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
