"The personnel of Willowridge are courteous, professional and concerned about doing the best job possible. We appreciate Maria, our telephone contact, who accepts our calls and follows through in a friendly, efficient manner. <br /> <br /> Our sprinkler system is quite old and has been in need of repairs. When called, Mike responds quickly and does his magic to keep our system working in the best manner. <br /> <br /> Rachel and Curtis and their associates have done an excellent job on our lawn. They also took care of snow removal which was a tremendous effort last year. When it snowed they arrived early and had our steep drive open. Since we are elderly and cannot do our own shoveling, it was a relief to know that we were not trapped for even a part of a day. <br /> <br /> Our biggest venture with Willowridge was a landscaping project which required removing old plants and replacing them with a new, attractive design. We were impressed with the efforts of Steve and his crew to be sure that each item was properly treated with necessary fertilizers, etc. At the same time we had a crew that cleaned out all our existing beds, trimmed shrubs and laid sod. Our yard looked fantastic when they were through. <br /> <br /> Although Willowridge is often pricier than their competition, we are willing to pay that price in return for high quality services. We must note that every bill from Willowridge is itemized and described. You know exactly what you are paying for. <br /> <br /> We will continue to work with Ron and his company and would recommend them to those needing their services."

"Being a Mechanical Engineer, I have very specific requirements for my sidewalks. These include 3 linear runs of half inch rebar, cross tied every 24 inches and mounted on chairs. This is not the usual sidewalk that people install. I don't intend for it to ever crack. The total job amounted to over 650 linear feet of concrete work. That's the sidewalks for 1/4th of a city block and the front sidewalk."

"Marcus has a horticulture degree and really understands the science behind landscapes and ground structures.  He prefers to use natural stone on all of his projects, however since I had purchased the manufactured concrete pavers he agreed to use them.  He is good at explaining how his projects are planned, the rational behind the materials he uses, and what options are available.  He and his crew of two were respectful of my property, cleaned up well, and I am happy with their work.  They completed laying out the base material for the 7'X21' patio on a Friday afternoon and completed laying the pavers by early Saturday afternoon."

"Lawrence Landscape had laid the original sprinkler system over 10 years ago, but still had the diagram of where the line ran under the driveway.  That helped them to find the brken pipe and to bore under the driveway to replacehte pipe and hte electrical wire, saving us the cost of digging up the drivway.  They were very professional and took care wih the garden areas along the driveway. <br /> Complete testing followed the installation of the new line."

"So far the process with LML has gone well.  Ryan and Brenda have been pleasant to work with.  Before doing any billable work Ryan scheduled a free consultation that involved visiting our property in mid-February and discussing potential landscaping ideas (we had only vague notions of what we wanted), and he asked us to complete a fairly extensive Landscape Design Questionnaire that helped us contemplate and articulate what we wanted.  After we returned that questionnaire and a design contract with a $200 deposit, Brenda took site measurements, and about one month later Ryan met with us to discuss the completed design.  At that meeting, which lasted more than an hour, he was very patient about answering our (often naive) questions about the choice of plants, aspects of the layout, various options (e.g., drainage basins, accent rocks) and minor changes (e.g., room for a mulch pile), maintaining the landscape, etc. <br /> It's hard for us to judge the quality of LML's work, because we know very little about landscaping and have never hired a professional landscape architect for such a major project (about $12,300 for all 3 phases); we've only hired landscapers for much smaller projects, and they didn't have much formal training.  Another challenge in evaluating LML's work is that the landscape itself hasn't yet been installed -- we paid for the design separately (but see below) -- and even after it's installed we probably won't be able to evaluate it properly for a few years until it matures. <br /> That raises another challenge in evaluating professional landscape services: Although LML's prices might seem high, it's important to consider the value of hiring a business with their collective expertise in designing, installing, and maintaining landscapes that are well-adapted to the local climate and tailored to the customer's preferences (e.g., gardening interests and experience, willingness to water).  Although you can almost certainly find someone who'll design and install beds and plants for substantially less, the ultimate value of their work depends heavily on its long-run quality.  My impression is that LML's expertise (e.g., Ryan's 5-year degree in landscape architecture) and dedication to horticulture, as demonstrated in part by the extensive information provided on their website, are well worth the additional expense compared to less-experienced contractors. <br /> I should note three more things.  First, although we could've hired someone else to install the landscape that LML designed (or done it ourselves), we've hired LML to install the first of three phases (for about $6,000), which is scheduled to be done this week.  Second, the design fee is refundable if we hire LML to install it, so in a sense the design is free.  Third, one reason we were drawn to LML is that they offer maintenance plans, which will help us learn how to care for our new landscape and reduce the burden of maintaining in ourselves. <br />"

"<p>All-N-1 did an excellent job for us.  We had mud spots in the backyard where we could not get grass to grow after several years of attempts.  We proposed a rock patio.  Charlotte Cox (landscaper) instead did a gorgeous rock garden design that was MUCH better than anything we had envisioned.  She designed it using photoshop so we could see every rock. plant, tree in our yard before we signed the contract.  I got to pick out the boulders we used myself at Rock City.  Turned out awesome!  That was 2012. </p> <p>So we hired Charlotte again in 2013 to do other parts of the yard needing work, and to redo a front landscape we had paid another company to design for us a couple of years before - which we were not happy with.  Charlotte came up with an expanded and much more interesting design, and economically upgraded it to a beautiful sight.  We were totally pleased with their creativeness, quality of work, responsiveness to any issues.</p> <br />"

"Goal was to have all sprinkler heads on the system checked and any broken ones repaired. However, it took four or five calls just to get an appointment. Then, no one showed up on the appointed day. When we called back, we were blamed for them not showing up and were told they couldn't come for 3 weeks. After stating we would use a new company, they said they'd be there the next day. I'm not sure how thorough they were as I was not home when they were performing the service. Overall, the sprinkler heads seem to be functioning properly, so it worked out. <br /> Also, our HOA had told us there was a discount for using PLS on the days they come to mow the lawns. However, when asking about that while making the appointment, we were told they had no idea what we were talking about and they offered no discounts. <br /> A slightly disappointing experience, but they take great care of the lawns and the sprinkler system is working. <br />"

FAQs for lawn and garden sprinkler system installation projects in Lawrence, KS

While drip irrigation systems have higher upfront costs, they can save you money in the long run. By delivering water directly into the soil with minimal evaporation and runoff, drip irrigation systems conserve water and improve efficiency. This means better performance and results for your landscaping, and cost savings over the system's lifespan.

Yes, irrigation systems can add value to your home, especially when installed with high-quality materials and a solid design. A well-irrigated landscape enhances curb appeal and can attract potential buyers. However, poor design or installation may reduce performance and even decrease your property's value. Hiring an expert for installation and performing regular maintenance is key to securing the long-term benefits.

A local irrigation professional can help you check your drip irrigation system to make sure it's in good shape. You'll want to make sure the water pressure is in a good range, repair any leaks as soon as possible, and cover the cost to winterize your sprinkler system as recommended by your irrigation contractor.

A drip irrigation system lasts between 10 and 15 years. This lifespan is determined by the quality of materials, the precision of installation, and regular professional maintenance. Unlike traditional sprinkler systems that can last up to 50 years, the thinner piping used in drip systems is more sensitive to UV exposure and environmental wear. Proper upkeep and timely repairs enhance durability and ensure consistent irrigation performance.

Drip irrigation is best suited for plant beds, containers, greenhouses, and row crops. It supplies water directly to individual plants, ensuring precise moisture control where it is needed most. For areas with simple layouts, above-ground systems work efficiently, while subsurface installations may be cost-prohibitive in spaces with extensive tree roots or irregular terrain. Proper planning maximizes the benefits of drip irrigation across a variety of applications.
