Master Plumber License #157091-5518, Contractor License #5578580-5501. Honest service with over 70% of our business being referrals. Customers include Bryan Kohler, Tom McPhee Construction, Red Pine Const, M&V Enterprises, Tafoya Construction and many, many more. Services done by experienced and licensed professionals that have worked on all types of plumbing, you wont get someone who has installed pex for 6 years and call themselves a journeyman, our guys work on homes in the avenues that have old cast iron, polypropeline lines (cancer causing that's been outlawed) and do the job right. We guarantee and warranty our work. We do not have ridiculous charges (no trip charge, dispatch charge, fuel charge, etc.) We offer senior and military discounts. We DO NOT have high advertising budgets, those full page ads cos $10,000 a month in the phone book, we don't feel its fair to charge a customer for that so our prices are quite a bit less! All employees carry their professional licenses, if you ever hire anyone, make sure they have that, if you hire a plumber make sure you get one.

"Communication A+ Returns calls A Showing up on time A+ Availability A Experience A+ Price V high end Quality B . Said if I used a thick mat rollar brush on the walls the texture would match the mudding. It doesn't. It is still easy to see where mud was applied. Would have like to have had the whole wall mudded. It would be so obvious. Helpful with other questions I had not concerning drywall. A+ I may or may not hire again. Depends on personal factors at the time of need. I put yes because it is not a definite NO"

"I worked closely with Lucy, the owner, who helped me choose this beautiful countertop and decide on the edges. The installers on our job were very professional, timely and careful. I am so happy with our bathroom and kitchen. It turned out better than I could have even imagined. I would highly recommend this company."

"Everything went really well. Rob was punctual and got everything done quickly. The price was competitive. He and the contractors he brought in did an awesome job. In the master shower, they replaced and fixed some of the old pipes and fixtures, installed a new shower pan and all the tile and fixtures. He was even able to work in a curve ball we threw in and installed the niche in the shower. For the outdoor stair drain, he and his crew were able to remove the old, ineffective drain and setup a much better drain with higher capacity and that is better at absorbing the water and rain. Rob also did some research on the best options for drainage in the stair well and helped us avoid costly options that would not work long-term. We're very happy with the result. For the window well installation, he got the job done despite our indecision and patiently worked with us while we changed our minds. Now we have an installed window well attached to the wall in a very narrow space with the drainage gravel all setup and ready to go. All through the process, Rob was awesome at communicating with us, keeping us updated, and figuring out solutions with us, giving us invaluable info based on extensive experience to help us make the best possible choices."

"Bateman Framing did an amazing job. Robert and his crew were punctual and professional. They completed their portion of the work on time and did a fantastic job. I am not a framer so I really didn’t know how good of a job they did until the inspector showed up to inspect the framing. I had never experienced an inspector that was so pleased with what he was seeing. He even showed me a couple spots where they went above and beyond what was required. He said that this company had done everything by the book. I was very pleased with their work and highly recommend this company as someone that you can trust."

"Michael (owner?), installed a back flow preventer for our sprinkler system in April, 2024. It had a 2 year warranty. About a year later, the valve leaked again. He said it was due to corrosion in the pipe from oxidation and in his 30 years in business, he's seen it from time to time. He slapped us a $362 bill for dispatch and cleaning the valve without first informing us of either the $120 dispatch fee (known) and cause (unknown) . We had used him for a water softener install during COVID which also had issues 1 year later-- he ended up coming out to repair (again, informing us of the service fee only afterwards). I talked to Michael about this afterwards and he spent 30 minutes explaining how this is a common issue for back flow valves (yet he never bothered to informed us before hand) and how he's been in business for 30 years and highly qualified (yet he never bother to inform us of the dispatch fee and other fees). There's a pattern of dishonesty here! Beware!"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Layton, UT

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
