"We ordered Stainmaster carpet and carpet pad from Lowe's. The carpet took about two weeks to come in. I did have to be a little persistent with the installer to set up a date to install the carpet. Once we had a date, he was an hour late and didn't call to tell me he was going to be late. However, once he arrived they got to work quickly. We had already cleaned out the rooms for the install so that was less prep work they had to do. The two bedrooms took about one hour and a half to complete and the work looked great. I did notice a couple nicks in the wall, but very minor and easily repairable with a little paint. We are very happy with our new carpet and we look forward to getting more for the rest of the house! We will go back to Lowe's for the carpet."

"Carpet and pad replacement. Salesman was courteous and worked for my business. The time was spent to find the appropriate carpet and pad which suited my taste, and worked hard to get the price within my budget."

"First talked to them in August about the roof, damaged by hail.  Very thorough explanation of the costs, repairs needed, additional services available, and how to work with the insurance company.  They handled all the negotiation with the insurance company, which was nice.  Due to the recent hailstorms, we knew ours was not first on the list and were told that the damage to our roof would not result in leaks, and by September we were told the repairs might be done in Spring, due to weather not being warm enough.  Roof was finished just before Christmas when we had a warm spell.  They tore off shingles one day and put on the protective plastic stuff, then came back the next day and roofed.  They were very good about cleanup and communicated with me about every step of the process.  Nothing but polite, friendly communication from beginning to end, with all questions answered--sometimes before I knew to ask them!  I feel confident about their work, not only because of the way they worked with me, but because the crew that was up on my roof has been working for the company for nearly 15 years, and that says a lot about stability.  Fortenberry is also handling some other repairs through their contracting services (eave and soffit repair, painting, and venting) and it, too has been done by friendly people who are interested in good quality work.  When I asked questions or noticed a tiny place that I thought they missed in painting, the response was, "We'll get right on that, and we appreciate you bringing it to our attention.  We want our work to be quality because you paid for it and you deserve it."  Can't ask for more than that!"

"o.We went to their showroom on 34th street and purchased carpet that was to be ordered. We were told approximately when the carpet would arrive. It did arrive before time and we were called to set up an appt. for installation. The installation was efficient and professional. This was our second purchase from this company. They still had our room measurements from 12 years ago and were extremely professional. We consider this our carpet store. Very pleased!"

"I don't think it could have gone any better. I was able to remain in our home while they did the work, instead of having everything taken offsite while the work was performed. Chris and his guys were really nice and helpful. I highly recommend this company. Vinyl floors are a lot better than carpet and hard wood because they are water resistant and cheaper than hard wood. Vinyl is much better than laminate as well. If possible and you need new vinyl, get the glue down version instead of the slotted because it will be easier to replace if repairs are needed in the future."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Levelland, TX

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
