Working with William Mackay roofing was a great experience.  I knew from my home inspection that I needed to have a membrane sealed on my roof. I called three roofers before the winter and during early spring and every one of them was slow to get back to me, or just not very informative, would charge for the estimate, etc...

I called William Mackay based on the Angies List service reviews and I was not disappointed.  They contacted me immediately through the app.  They were available and they arrived on time.  They provided a free estimate, took photos of my roof, and shared them with me. They showed me exactly what needed to be done and they were straightforward - they did not try to sell services I didn't need.

When I inquired about scheduling, they had space on that day's schedule - they immediately called a worker in and got to work on my roof. The maintenance was completed in a few hours. They took photos of the completed work and emailed both "before" and "after" photos with an in-depth explanation  of the completed work.

Ben and Bill Mackay (sons of William) handled the job. Ben Mackay shared information on how to maintain my roof.  I'm a new homeowner and I bought a well-maintained house that is almost a century old. He shared info on the difference between newly constructed roofs and the materials used, and roofs like mine.  Bill managed the job.

I paid a fair price but more importantly, I know that I can call them and they will do a great job.  They also stand behind their work. Family owned businesses are important - they rely on word of mouth and repeat business.  Highly recommend.

"The company showed up on time and conducted the shingle replacement being careful not to damage the gardens around the house. They brought the roof up to current code, (the roof no longer complied with local codes), and worked with our chimney company to install the flashing properly. The cleanup was performed in an acceptable manner and the work was finished on time. Follow-up inspections by the company and I showed I had a good roof that was going to last another long time. "We were extremely pleased with Hammer and Nail.  Everyone was very helpful and made good recommendations.  Hammer and Nail helped us select the best option for us.  (I really wanted wood windows, which I think are far more attractive) and I wanted low maintenance, easy to clean and energy efficiency.  We love our windows.  Hammer and Nail even perfectly matched the paint on the interior of the windows to the interior paint.  The work was done quickly with minimum disruption (including all the preparations for removing the windows which had previously been painted with lead paint).  We were so pleased, we asked them to replace the remaining windows and our front door.  The workmanship was excellent and everyone was also very kind and lovely to us.  We love Hammer and Nail!!!

"We saw a display at a festival for gutter covers. the ones way up high on our house scare us to clean so we stopped to look. The man there told us theirs were the best... don't they all say that?? but he seemed very knowledgeable and the little sign that said Angie's list super service award winner helped him convince us we should get a free estimate. He gave us some info to look over and some websites to visit before he came to the house. We like to do our research and it seemed like a very good product. 
Overall we are very pleased so far with the covers and were very pleased with the way all the people were nice and professional in all of our dealings. I am sure I will come back on here and let you know later how they are working after a while.
One of the things that I liked was how the man who put them on took very good care around my landscaping and it was as clean when he left as when he got there.
